Almost 48 hours after surgery. Apart from a headache from lack of sleep on a noisy ward, Im not doing too badly.
Just hoping to hear others experiences please..
I'm mid 30s.. when did the flushes/ night sweats etc begin?

spykid I bought magnesium sleep oil/spray today so will be slathering myself in it tonight Wink not allowed a bath for another 7 weeks but will definitely get the salts too!
I used to nearly be asleep before I was fully in bed! Hopefully it improves & keeps getting better for us both

Newborn baby meaning up every 4 hoursHmm

dirtyfabulous · 07/02/2020 08:59

Oh sweet congratulations on the baby! I hope you have some hands on help for a little while at least. I remember those nights & days too Flowers
I was awake all night longSad my skin is so itchy!! It's driving me crazy. I'm also taking steroids (last dose just now) so not sure if that's messing with my sleep. The knock on is my head is thumping and I just feel really crap today.
Hope everyone else had a better night!

Lol no my baby is 18. I was saying when I came home from hospital I was up and down all night like a new born baby pain kept me awake especially my hip. I was told by my GP to do my pelvic floor exercises so to get everything working properly. Hence the wet wipes.

Sweet74 · 07/02/2020 10:04

Skin itching might be a menopause symptom?

Sweet74 · 07/02/2020 10:35

Going for blood tests tomorrow morning. See how I am going.

dirtyfabulous · 08/02/2020 13:04

Lol sweet i blame my muddled mind!
Are you getting bloods to check your oestrogen levels are adequate on HRT?
I'm not having anymore itching and slept really well last night but think I may have overdone it on a 20 min walk yesterday because I'm having pain in my lower tummy. I thought I would relish doing nothing because life is hectic and I rarely get a minute generally but I must admit I'm feeling a little bored.

I did the same thing. The first time I went to the shops thinking I was feeling good. No back to bed and surgical stockings back on. And I do everything around the house. I ask for help all the time now. I am so careful. No lifting the kettle even. I am cooking and driving but anything heavy I ask to be taken out the fridge I won't do it. You forget things too. I have a big heavy door... and pulling yourself into a vehicle etc. Pulled me up.
Got my blood test today. For hormone levels.
I got bored too. But I liked watching movies I haven't seen etc. It was a real worrying time in the first few weeks. I was so scared not to hurt myself. With Rectocele Repair it can fail. So really taking it easy.

Sweet74 · 08/02/2020 14:31

It's funny. It's 12:30 at night here in Australia. I am awake on a Saturday night. The first few weeks. I was so awake all the time with pain. I really didn't over sleep. But now I went for a sleep this afternoon. And don't hear the alarm in the morning so tired. It must be catching up. Doing more though. Starting to feel a bit more normal. In the beginning it was uncomfortable going to the toilet. I could feel everything bladder and bowel. And I had a stitch that was irritated. But everything has healed up. I was worried about sex later too. But that is a while away. Blush

dirtyfabulous · 08/02/2020 19:48

Oh yes the discomfort going to the toilet. It is getting a little better every day though! My consultant has said no sex for 8 weeks, not that I'm in any hurry! I am worried though about that side of things. It was a concern I had going into this operation, because myself & DH are still only in our 30s I am fearful that things will be ... different. Although the truth is I have been pleasently surprised so far at how I'm reacting to the surgery and menopause. Still early days though. I went to the supermarket today with DH and it was fairly busy, I felt so fearful of people's trolleys and also everything seemed so loud and intrusive.
It's a good idea checking bloods, something else for me to ask my consultant about next week once I hopefully get hrt sorted

There isn't much on the internet about how it really affects things. I asked alot of other ladies and they say everything works fine. But of course it will take time. The best thing is not bleeding or headaches and cramping. So happy that the ovaries came out too. Cysts etc...It will be a new chapter of lifeGrin

Sweet74 · 12/02/2020 04:34

Got blood test done. Saw Dr he said oh I did blood count etc...sorry didn't do the hormones. So I have to do it all again. He said something about hemoglobin levels etc saying .. your still healing it will take 6 months for you to be back to normal. Swelling will be there a while. So I will see. Still drinking lots of water. Not much soft drinks anymore. Just want to get better sooner.

Sweet74 · 15/02/2020 04:22

Well all I can say is that I have just started the Vaginal Estrogen suppositories. Makes things so much more comfortable. Waiting for blood test results to come back. Hope everyone else is getting better

dirtyfabulous · 15/02/2020 19:55

Hi sweet, that's great you feel an improvement with the vaginal oestrogen! Just want to get better sooner hell yes to this! Feeling exhausted this last few days in particular. Got my prescription for hrt gel & vaginal oestrogen yesterday. Haven't started yet though. Passed some clots yesterday which I think is due to me doing too much
Are you feeling any menopausal symptoms at the moment? I don't think I am- more headaches though & feeling warmer than usual at times but apart from that..Smile

Honestly this is my second day of the vaginal Estrogen. Yesterday I felt normal again. I just thought it was from the operation I was still sore. It made a world of difference. That's one thing that has changed for me. I used to get migraines. I haven't had one since my operation. So happy. Scary having clots. I honestly didn't bleed except for a stitch that was irritated. Seriously I still don't do anything like lifting shopping or anything heavy or vacuuming etc... My GP was direct and said it will honestly take 6 months to heal. It's not like you got a cut on your arm. So be very careful.Flowers

Sweet74 · 20/02/2020 07:38

Doctors appointment...my Estrogen is low. He doesn't seem to worry him. (the doctor) may have to see a specialist. My hair seems to be coming out more little strands at a time. Might be a side affect?

spykid · 20/02/2020 18:11

I feel your pain- I lost a LOT of hair in first few months. It's growing back but what I have left is much thinner as a result.

Sweet74 · 24/02/2020 07:44

Estrogen is low even with the patches. And the weirdest side affect from the Estrogen suppositories in mouth feeling slightly numb and soft. Only one brand in Australia by prescription. So I am not sure what to do. Going to see a physiotherapist in the next few weeks. Help with pelvic floor exercises etc..

dirtyfabulous · 24/02/2020 12:23

Oh sweet sounds like you're having a tough time at the moment. Do you feel that your vaginal oestrogen is causing the problems with your mouth?Maybe I'm reading that wrong! I haven't started the vagifem( vaginal oestrogen) yet. I'm bleeding ever so slightly for the past 10days or so, so want that to clear up first.
It would make sense if oestrogen is low that your hair could be suffering. Are you getting the dosage upped? I'm thinking about taking a skin hair & nails vitamin. The migraines have eased off since I started the hrt gel thankfully.
I'm Keen to see a physio also about pelvic floor exercises and done guidance on exercising in general. Let me know how you get on!

Yes I think it is an allergic reaction to the Ovestin Ovula the weird mouth feeling. Still is uncomfortable downstairs from the operation. Still taking movical every night. Much better than the scary first few weeks. It hurts to sit for a while. So I have to lay on my sideConfused. Hope you stop bleeding soon xx
