Scared it's cervical cancer

Hi ladies

I need some advice/ handholding. I'm 32 years old and am having some very scary bleeding.

At the end of September I had 5 days of pink discharge a few days after my period had ended . Went to the docs who examined and swabbed me and said my cervix looked fine. Swabs came back positive for BV which was treated.

Next cycle comes round and a similar thing happens, two days of brown discharge several days after my period. go back to docs, am fobbed off with 'It's the BV' despite treating it a month earlier.

Cycle 3 sees the same thing happen, 2 days of bleeding after my period has ended. This time I have pretty vigorous sex during the spotting and have a tiny bit of fresh blood in the immediate post sex discharge. Go to docs again, am swabbed and examined again, cervix still looks fine, swabs come back with thrush, am referred for an ultrasound.

Don't hear anything about ultrasound for a month, bleeding has stopped though. Have frequent sex with no bleeding. Then, just before Xmas a few days after my period I have sex and then a few hours later start getting pink discharge. I've noticed by now that all the bleeds happen when I am ovulating and chalk it up to that. Bleed lasts 3 days.

Finally get an ultrasound last week, everything on it is fine. Have sex this weekend a few times and a few hours after the last time I am shocked to see bright red streaks of blood when I wipe after the loo. It's clearly because of the sex.

I'm now terrified that I have cervical cancer. As I've been scanned and examined multiple times now all the usual suspects for this bleeding (polyps, cervical ectropion) can be ruled out as no one had raised them as being present. I currently can't think about anything else, I'm in an absolute panic and feel like I've been fobbed off again and again by doctors who haven't even taken a smear. My last one was exactly 2 years ago and came back totally clear but I know the results arent always 100%.

Has anyone been in the same position please?

Please try not to.worry but go back to your GP, explain all your symptons / bleeding and ask( insist) to be referred for a smear, GP surgery won't do it as you are not yet due one and if they send a smear test to be analysed sample might be thrown away as you are not due one ( that's what I was told anyway) so smear will have to be through hospital probably colposcopy clinic. Please try not to worry the chances are it's nothing , I went through similar bleeding, was told unlikely to be anything wrong as my smear wasn't due but GP referred me to hospital. When results came back I did have abnormal cells thankfully precancerous CIN3 so had lletz treatment to.remove abnormal.cells and now all fine. Good luck

Please do not panic OP!

Are you on any birth control? As this can sometimes cause bleeding.

Absolutely go back to the GP and ask to see another doctor.

I am going to see the doctor tomorrow and will insist on at least a smear. I'd like a colposcopy tbh, as smear results can take forever.

I have the copper coil so I don't think that is linked to the bleeding (ultrasound technician did say that the coil was in the right place).

Kind of gross but I had my period last week and noticed a sulphury smell on tampons I was using after only wearing them for an hour. My actual period itself and discharge have not been smelling though so maybe I have BV again?

Please try not to worry, although I know that is not easy. I had exactly the same symptoms last year. Fortunately my GP could see an ectropion/erosion and I was sent for a colposcopy and was treated. Your GP should be able to refer for a colposcopy with just the bleeding symptom. For what it is worth I read up a lot on CC when I had my bleeding and it is extremely rare to have a normal smear test and develop CC, abnormal cells appear long before anything more sinister. Good luck tomorrow and try to insist on a colposcopy.

So the doctor has referred me to the local gynacology department for further testing. Apparently I should have an appointment with them within two weeks. Said if he did a smear it would be ignored due to my last one being two years ago.

I'm assuming that the gyno clinic is a pathway to colposcopy.

Try not to worry OP.
I have had similar and after a colposcopy investigation I was told I have a blood vessel very close the the surface which is sometimes aggravated during sex which causes some spotting.
