Endometriosis pain - any suggestions?

I'm currently under investigation for endometriosis and I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips\advice on dealing with the pain? Anything that's worked for you really. I've been given some amazing pain killers by the doctor but they make me a bit 'spacey'. I was hoping to relieve the low level pain another way and save the pain killers for the on the floor in agony pain.

Should be seeing my gynecologist again soon!

Mefenamic taken 3 days before period helps pain.

I take them, painkillers at the earliest pain strike, keep dosed up without fail and hot water bottles. It’s not a magic wand, but makes it bearable.
When it’s a particularly bad flare up, where you can’t even stand and have to crawl to the toilet and vomit in pain you can only really stay in bed Sad

Reduce inflammation by reducing the amount of gluten you eat.

That's really useful, thank you. Bearable is probably what I'm aiming for tbh. I've not thought of taking pain killers before the pain but it makes perfect sense.

I've read about reducing gluten but I wasn't sure what the link was!

I'm glad to find someone else who understands the level of pain you can experience. People I've spoken to assume it's just like a period and seem confused when I explain my symptoms.

I stopped all wheat and dairy as I was desperate. It helped. Good luck. Its a hellish condition.

Gluten can cause inflammation and can make endometriosis worse.
I have endo, have had it removed twice by laparoscopy and the relief was just indescribable. For pain relief, mefanemic acid is very effective and also can make periods lighter. You can take paracetamol as well as mefanemic acid to really keep on top of the pain.

Diet does help as a preventive measure but too late if your organs are glued together by endo like mine were.
Things that are suggested:
Broccoli or veg to increase DIM or diindolylmethane
Red grapes
Brazil nuts for the selenium
Reducing inflammation causing foods e.g all processed food.
The book Endometriosis for Dummies is good.

I take tramadol on the really bad days, but Naproxen (feminax ultra) is actually pretty good if I need to be able to drive etc, you can get it from the pharmacist.

Thank you all for your replies!

It's good to know what has worked for others as I'm at a bit of a loss until my next gynaecological appointment.
