Chronic pelvic pain, no reason why

I've been struggling with mid cycle pain since my periods returned after having DD2 (c section). Initially it started off around the time of ovulation and as I'd had some occasional pain around ovulation before I simply assumed it was this.

As the months have gone on though it's getting more painful and longer lasting. I'm now getting pain from around day 5 of my cycle (and also turning into an emotional wreck at this time too, which is definitely new) which lasts for between 10 - 14 days and generally gets more intense as the days progress. This cycle has been particularly bad (seems worse every other month), including waking me up at night, with a constant ache, low back ache and a feeling of pressure. Even pressing my tummy hurts.

I had an internal ultrasound today which showed one ovary as mildly polycystic but she said that could be down to recently ovulating, but advised to go back to GP. Nothing else untoward going on, which is obviously good but equally frustrating as I'm so tired of constantly being in pain. I mentioned having had a c section and could it be adhesions but she said no sign of any.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Is this normal for ovulation pain!? Dr Google says it should last a day or 2, not 2 flipping weeks!!! Xmas Sad

I thought of endometriosis being a possible cause when I read your post. Ovulation pain should not go on for two weeks as you rightly state.

Any pain that is cyclical in nature and gets worse up to and including menses should be checked further to see if endometriosis is responsible. Mid cycle pain also is commonly seen too. Internal ultrasounds will NOT detect this if it is there and I know this also because I've had more of those than I care to mention (none detected the endo present in my uterine cavity). I would urge you to go back to your GP as you have been already advised and insist that you are referred to a gynaecologist.

You will need to be persistent in order to get answers. Do not be fobbed off.

Definitely not normal for ovulation pain. I would go back and ask for gynae referral / further investigation.

Thanks both, will definitely push for a referral. I don't have any other symptoms though, other than my mood has definitely altered at certain points in my cycle and libido is at an all time though (although frankly last thing I feel like with constant belly ache!).

Did you ever find what it is?
