Anyone ever hijacked a blood test?! AIBU

So, not had my period since October... Worried about Perimenopause, thyroid, PCOS... No positive pregnancy tests to date... Used about 50 quids worth Blush.

The test I've got is for: renal, liver, thyroid, random lipids, fbc, hb1ac, fsh, Lh, e2, beta hcg.

I have previously been deficient on vit b12...forgot to mention this... Can I just write it on the form I was given or AIBU? As I could be anaemic?

Also is there anything else I could have/ should have had on the form?

This would be forging a doctor’s request and could cause a breakdown in trust in the professional relationship between you and your doctor. If you’re concerned about anaemia why not phone the GP and ask their advice.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 15/12/2019 21:45

I haven’t but I might do it to be honest. However serum B12 tests aren’t the most accurate I don’t think for b12 status anyway

Are you generally well?

CatEnabler · 15/12/2019 22:14

@Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow well I do... I took high dose b12 when diagnosed last time and felt a difference... Tinnitus disappeared and everything. I am generally well though yes. Tired, but isn't everyone?!

@Greybeardy there is no relationship, I'm one of probably 1000+ on their books, get someone different every time. Would they even know?!... Are there any repercussions on me doing this!? 😝

Yup. The test results available won’t fit with the consultation that’s documented. They may not notice, but if they do they may feel that if you forge test requests you’d be likely to forge prescriptions/letters/other documents too. If there is such a breakdown in trust you can be removed from a list.

@Greybeardy ah yes.. Thanks, hadn't considered that aspect 🤣👍 I'll remain a good girl for a little longer then 😉😇

If they’re doing a full blood count (Is that fbc?) this would probably pick up anaemia. I wouldn’t make any changes yourself.

JoanieCash · 16/12/2019 21:09

You could email practice and say you realised it’s not on the form, but you’ve been deficient before and could you collect a blood request for it, or could it be added to current request. Don’t think B12 deficiency associated with amenorrhoea though.

mywrencalls · 16/12/2019 21:15

I had a blood test from from Dr yesterday, she printed it off and realised she forgot to tick ferratin, so she just put a cross in with her pen. The other one was for fbc and crossed out via the computer.
So you adding one probably wouldn't seem suspect imo
