Mirena - how quickly would depression / anxiety kick in?

I had a hysteroscopy, D&C and Mirena under sedation on Thursday for non-stop bleeding, bulky cervix / uterus and adenomyosis. I was in quite a lot of pain afterwards, can't tolerate morphine or tramadol so they gave me fentanyl.

Friday I just felt wiped out.

Saturday was fine.

By Sunday I was feeling anxious.

Yesterday was dreadful and this morning I woke up at 4am so anxious I can barely breathe.

A quick look on the Internet tells me thousands of women have experienced similar symptoms after having Mirena 'installed'.

My question is, could it really be responsible for affecting me so severely this quickly??

Also, can I have it out now? Do I need to heal from the D&C before I can have it out. I actually just had a feel to see if I could potentially yank it out myself but I can't find the threads Blush

I'd rather bleed continuously than this Confused

I would give it 6 months. Most women are perfectly ok with it. I would avoid googling 'evidence' for mirena induced anxiety because it's not true.

It worsened my anxiety- I think it’s the progesterone only - I need a balance. I had it for over a year before I gave up and had it out. I’d give it a bit longer though!

It made mine worse. I went to the doctor and they said mirena won’t make you anxious and have me antidepressants. I took them for 5 years until I had the Coil out.

I have felt a lot better since. I don’t take hormones any more.

I took it out myself in the end mad felt better within 24 / 48 hours. Never again.

I have a Mirena and have never heard of this.

Good luck with getting to the root of it.
