Worried I have a lump 'down there'

Sorry this is really tmi but I'm worrying so much. Yesterday I was having real problems with tampons, I've been using them since I was about 14-15 and I'm now 23 so it's not a first time using them.

Well anyway, yesterday morning I was having problems with them being very uncomfortable, I remember having one in during the morning and then I went shopping, took myself to the toilet and removed that one, I then remember putting a new tampon in and it also being uncomfortable again (it was like I'd been scratched or it was to dry) but I can't remember if I took the second one out straight away, this is what was worrying me.

I've NEVER forgotten to change tampons before, it's frustrating me. I have text my mum this morning because I'm obviously panicking and she said to have a feel around up there, I have and I can't feel any tampon or the cord.

Now here is another thing, I'm not sexually active yet so when my mum advised me to 'feel' in there I felt very awkward but I felt this lump, I don't know if it's supposed to be there or not but I think this may be why the tampons were uncomfortable? A quick google search and first thing that comes up is cycst or prolapse, so now I'm REALLY freaking out and I'm to shy to go to the doctors. I don't know what to do, can cycsts or prolapse happen to anyone my age? Any advise on what to do would be appreciated Sad

Honestly, just go to the doctors. It's the only way you will get an answer. You can ask for a female doctor so you feel more comfortable. They hear about these issues all the time and it's completely ordinary to them. Good luck.

The ‘lump’ you can feel is most likely your cervix or a full lower bowel. You need to see GP or Practice Nurse who can reassure you all is ok.

It could be anything (including something serious). You really must see a doctor.
