I just had my every-two-year general health check (I live outside the UK). This time, the clinic has added another item, where they test your AMH levels.
My report has come back stating that my AMH levels were "high for your age" at 6.22mg/ml. I am 41 and recently had my second child. Google searches seem to indicate that I "should" have an AMH level of 1, 2 ng/ml, that kind of thing.
I'm confused and worried. What does this mean? Most of my frantic googling has turned up fertility related stats (I am not planning any more children so I do not care about this per se), but it also seems that abnormally high levels can indicate PCOS. Yet I have never had any symptoms of PCOS and conceived my children without any problems. Are there any other things which could be causing this, or could the fact that I gave birth a few months back and am breastfeeding be somehow throwing the results off? Or can you sometimes have PCOS with no obvious symptoms?
I am very worried now and would appreciate some wise words before phoning the clinic on Monday.
