Hoping someone might be able to verify or share their experience ...
I'm almost 48, was diagnosed with PCOS in my late teens. For most of my life I've had only a couple of menstrual periods a year, and when they arrive they've been a nightmare (flooding, clots, two or three weeks long, required me to stay in the house and so on).
Over the last 18 months, I have suddenly started having much more regular periods and the last 3 have been precisely 28 days apart, lasted 4 or 5 days and been very manageable. I feel as though I am finally experiencing what a 'normal' cycle is like!
My question is, could this be perimenopause? Everything I read says that women with a 'normal' hormone balance start to have fewer and lighter periods as they heads towards menopause but maybe it's different (and opposite) if you have PCOS? My GP did blood tests a month ago (I went complaining of horrible brain fog and mentioned my changing periods) and she said the results indicated I 'was nowhere near' menopause.
I'm finding the brain fog particularly problematic but if this is all symptomatic of menopause then I might be less anxious about it all.
