Had tests & scans in May, June & July & was put through as urgent under an oncology gynaecologist. Thankfully no cancer found & have been put on another consultants list.

Diagnosed with large endometrial ovarian cyst (14.9cm x 8.5cm), endometriosis and a cervical fibroid. Not sure how long any of this has been there. Never had any problems conceiving & had 3 natural childbirths.

Increasing days of being uncomfortable or in pain. Rang my gp who was happy to write & try and push my case up the list a bit. Currently waiting time for consultant appointment is 4-6 months. Previous consultant told me the cyst would have to be surgically removed as will not disappear on it's own. And to expect a full hysterectomy.

Currently on day 12 of what feels like the longest period in history (usually last approx 7 days). Apologies if tmi!

Completed my family & would expect to go through menopause in next 10 years anyway. Just not sure really what to expect yet. I'm sure I'll be given more info when I eventually get to see next consultant, but would appreciate some "real life" experiences if anyone is able to help.

Thank you in advance ladies Smile.

I just posted on here there about similar but not quite didn’t see your thread. What were your symptoms if you don’t mind me asking?

catnidge · 25/10/2019 05:28

coffee and pauline
There is a large hysterectomy thread running oh this page with lots of people with different reason for needing them
I did have a large complex ovarian cyst which was painful but l also have cancer so did not wait for my op as it was urgent.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 25/10/2019 08:47

@PaulineDe. Hi, it was a bit weird to be honest. Period was due in the next few days. Woke up & felt uncomfortably bloated. Gradually worsened through the day. Once home from work took ibuprofen and some windsettlers as felt a bit like trapped gas as well. Whole stomach/pelvic area quite painful through the night. Next morning not as painful but still slightly bloated & could feel a large lump slightly to the left towards my hip bone. Made dr appoint for following day. Whole area was still tender, dr said possibly fibroids & took bloods, did pregnancy test (dh had snip years ago 😂) & booked an urgent ultrasound. Bloods came back with elevated c125 so urgent gynae appt as well. The rest is above.

Now I have uncomfortable days, bloated or almost like being pregnant with baby on bladder and also feel it moving (strange tbh). Some days it feels very obvious & have dull aches & sharp pains. Other days are normal and I can forget it's there.

Just in limbo atm waiting for appt & more info.

@Catnidge. Hope you are doing ok. How did your op go?

@catnidge I hope your op went well.

@coffeebeansgalore
Sounds very much like the symptoms I have. I’m so scared. I keep thinking that the sonographer must be used to seeing this type of thing and that’s why I was sent to my GP immediately after my Ultrasound yesterday. My doctor has done blood tests and an urgent referral. Everything I asked him he just kept saying I don’t know. I hope everything turns out well for you and thank you for replying to me.

Hi coffee the op went well. I had some rare post op complications but am recovering fine now.
Its good to see you are in the system and things should move quickly now. I'm hoping you get good news though.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 25/10/2019 09:12

Thank you both. It was a huge relief to know for definite it wasn't ovarian cancer. I wasn't on the high risk/likely list but it's worrying until you know for sure.

@PaulineDe. Good luck. Waiting for results is horrible. Have you had an MRI yet? Fyi, not as bad as I thought. I get terribly claustrophobic & was dreading it but it was fine. Try not to panic. Easier said than done though. I'm starting to feel frustrated with lack of information. I just want to know what they are going to do & when. Then I will panic as hate being poked & prodded, let alone cut open!

Hi not yet. So far I’ve only had an ultrasound and I’ve had blood tests. I’m waiting on the result of the blood tests and the urgent referral appointment. I just felt yesterday so caught off guard I fully expected the ultrasound to confirm what my doctor had thought which was fibroids cause my symptoms all seemed to point that way. Yesterday what frightened me was the urgency of the sonographer telling me to go straight and speak to my GP and him really not knowing. I’m also feeling in limbo. Trying to stay positive but it’s hard. Hope you get further forward than just waiting it’s horrible especially when it can be so painful.

I had an ovarian cyst removed keyhole, it wasn't as big as yours, but I had endometriosis, I eventually had a hysterectomy 6 months later again by keyhole surgery. The surgery for the cyst wasn't too bad, I was only in hospital about 5 hours & was back on my feet within a couple of days.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 25/10/2019 18:09

@PaulineDe Hope you get good results & stay positive until you know otherwise.

@Nat6999 Wow, 5 hours is quick. Looking back would you have rather had it all done together rather than 2 separate surgeries?

@CoffeeBeansGalore Thank you and all the very best wishes to you.

Ohdeariedear · 25/10/2019 18:31

Not quite the same but I had a massive undiagnosed fibroid that was discovered quite by chance due to something else and I second the recommendation to get over to the hysterectomy thread once you get to that point. It’s a lovely handhold through the whole process with other people going through the same and offering advice and support on everything, down to the smallest detail (eg take boiled sweets as your throat will get dry in hospital!). It was hugely helpful to me.

I had mine six months ago and it’s been Great since then, such a change for the better. Hope you get some answers and a way ahead soon.

Nat6999 · 25/10/2019 19:19

No, I hadn't made my mind up about having a hysterectomy at the time. Keyhole ops make it so much easier & recovery is quicker than open surgery, I was back driving within a week of having both ops.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 25/10/2019 22:30

Thank you ladies!
