Breast Health - Help!

Has anyone had any breast issues in pregnancy?

I had a fibroadenoma in pregnancy and it’s left me obsessed! It’s still there although they say it’s reduced in size and I’ve now had 2 or 3 ultrasounds, 2 biopsies because in my follow up he saw how distraught I was and said look that is what it is but we can do one more biopsy if your really anxious to stop you worrying. I paid privately for one of the ultrasounds. I’ve had a lot of reassurance but I just feel constantly worried now and I check all the time and panic!

My doc said they are very common especially in puberty and pregnancy due to hormones and that unless they grow or lose an issue they usually don’t remove them as it’s not necessary...

Has anyone else had one? None of my friends have :(

I've had 3, 2 I had removed because they got quite big, but a few of my friends have them and haven't had them removed. I think they're quite common :)

Ah that's so nice to hear, none of my friends know what it is and they looked worried when I mentioned lump - which worried me more! The GP said they are common but I didn't believe her I thought she was just trying to make me feel better !

Do you get them regularly checked or just leave them alone? Did you have any other symptoms?

No they are common :)

I just leave the one I have alone but the other two grew and were behind my nipples so were really painful. Just try to forget about them and they might disappear cos stress can affect them :)

So common and absolutely nothing to worry about. You should feel very reassured by your biopsy result as they have no malignant potential.

Leave it alone apart from your normal monthly breast exam. If it is getting noticeably bigger go back to get it measured again.

1x before pregnancy removed because it was painful
1x during pregnancy, still there. Not changed that I know of.
Also during pregnancy I had enlarge lymph glands
And now I'm breastfeeding, constantly changing breasts. Very lumpy bumpy.

I had some really stressful pregnancy symptoms including that and then I got sepsis in labor - I just feel like I have such bad anxiety over it all now and I've read so much about breast cancer I don't know what I'm even looking for anymore, i got some pain in both breasts too, GP said that was fine and also I already have one slightly inverted nipple on that side but I keep panicking about it, I debated getting an ultrasound once a year to chill me out!

I've had a giant one (over 5cm) for 15 years. Now I'm over 40, I get annual mammograms in my country. The first time the new docs saw it, they freaked at the size and did some core biopsies.

Guess what? Still benign, still no need to remove it.

Try not to worry, mate. They were happy to leave me with no follow up for that long because they don't tend to change from benign. Consider it a souvenir of your pregnancy, something to associate with your kiddo. Flowers

Thank you, it doesn't really help that just after giving birth I also got an abnormal smear with CIN1 changes and HPV even though I've had the vaccine (must be one of the other types) ... be nice to not have to stress about female cancer for one day!
