Breast dent...

Hi

Newbie here!

So on Friday night, I got out the bath and walked past the mirror - don’t usually display myself in all my glory 😂 But I saw a dent in my right breast, right by where my arm sits. It’s the size of a thumb print. But when I raise my arm or extend my arms out even slightly it disappears.

I got it checked yesterday by the GP and nurse and he had a good feel. He could feel or see anything. I was lying down though which is also when it disappears, in any position.

I’m to go back in two weeks to double check or sooner if there’s any change but they didn’t seem worried. Should I push this?? Just after some reassurance really! No history of BC in the family. I’m 32.

Thanks! 🤗

If you are worried push for a referal to your local breast clinic, however if your GP has scheduled another check in 2 weeks that's a good place to start.

You could always request a precautionary mammogram?

Mycrazylife85 · 02/10/2019 22:06

Push it. A GP really can't tell what's going on underneath. Please, please push for a referral to the breast clinic

Push for a referral for a mammogram. I found a dent a couple of years ago and my doctor didn’t hesitate to refer me, it was all clear thankfully. 👍

All the breast surgeons I know through work would want to see you, even if it's nothing to worry about. Get a referral and don't leave GP until you've got one. We think of breast cancer (I'm not saying it is at all) as being in the slightly older age group, but I have seen patients in their 30's needing surgery

CherryPavlova · 03/10/2019 08:26

Yes, go back and insist on two week referral. I wouldn’t trust a practice nurse with this, to be honest. Your GP is following the NICE guidance because urgent referral is for women over 50 with retraction but the guidance doesn’t actually mention over 30 and retraction.
However, yours isn’t about a ‘lump’ as they couldn’t feel a lump and ‘pulling in’ can be a sign of a deep lump. Depending on the breast size, it can be quite difficult to feel a lump.
Insist on referral.

Try not to panic, but I'd ask for a referral too.

Hi OP, I know this is an old thread but was wondering if you had screening and what the results were? I’m experiencing the same, a dimple/dent under one breast. I have a GP appointment in a few days but I’m feeling sick with worry. X
