Abdominal pain - various tests clear what now?!

I've been getting abdominal pain for a long time now. It doesn't seem to happen at any particular time. Sometimes its dull and achy, sometimes its sharp and take-my-breath-away stubby. If it turn over in bed sometimes I get such a sharp sudden pain I feel sick.

Physical examination over a year ago, practitioner said my uterus felt "bulky"

referred for an ultrasound - came back clear.

Referred to gynaecology for further tests, they referred me to gastroenterology to rule out a thing bowel related.

Colonoscopy has just been done, said that was ok and they are referring me back to gynaecology, but I'm sure they said they took some biopsies?

I think the next step is a laparoscopy. I'm starting to worry if that comes back clear, what then?

I'm at a loss what it can be.

So far it's been suggested, fibroids, ovarian cysts - ruled out by ultrasound.

IBD - now seems ruled out by colonoscopy.

Adenomyosis or endometriosis now suspected? Will that not show on ultrasound but show on a laparoscopy.

Its frustrating as I can pinpoint the two places exactly I get the pain, it's not a general abdominal pain. It's at either side of my pelvis. Where I imagine my ovaries would be, but lower, right nestled in my pelvis.

A y thoughts or suggestions. If you have endo or adeno, is the pain in anyway similar? Were they identified on a laparoscopy?

Thank you!Smile

I have got endo, it can only be diagnosed by a laparoscopy as doesn’t show on scans; for me the pain is low in my pelvis and also in my back and down my left leg. The endo pain is like nothing else, it’s a very specific pain and the only thing that helps is a heat pad and anti-inflammatories.

I hope having a laparoscopy gives you some answers and relief Flowers

Also, meant to say for me the pain is only around the time I ovulate and then around my period. I have got a mirena coil to manage the symptoms, and I did have some of the endo lasered off, but I do still suffer.

Thank you for your reply. The pain does seem to get worse in my luteal phase. But I was starting to think that because they'd mentioned endo I was worried I was making it fit around endo because I wanted an answer if that makes sense.

It is def worse second half of my cycle, and periods are heavy, but i dont think the pain I get on my period is like the horrendous pain women with diagnosed endo say they get.

It's not constant, it comes and goes, but I cant pin it to anything specific. Sometimes it's a mild grumbly kind of pain,, other times very sharp and stabby. But always in the same places, left and right sides, low down in my pelvis.

It might be that endo is part of the problem, hopefully having a laparoscopy will either confirm that, which will give you treatment options, or lead on to help diagnose something else.

Really hope you get answers, miserable being in pain and not knowing the cause.
