dd's (13) periods

DD has been having periods for just less than a year now. Most months she gets really, really tired, high temp and quite often also vomits n the first day. I thought we'd helped by making sure she took paracetamol as soon as she felt it coming on, but this month is worse than ever, she just has to take to her bed and sleep. Should I be taking her to the GP - is there anything that can be done? I was never as bad as this, not at that age.

I was like that. Also low plops itessure and blackouts etc. Definitely take her to the GP. The pill and various other meds helped my. I also take iron (high dose) but get her bloods done before starting any supplements.

Oh the poor thing, that sounds horrible. A lot of my friends went on the pill at this age to help with bad periods and to help their bodies adjust to all the hormones, and I did the same when mine started. (I am now on my 3rd arm implant - I love having only 2 or 3 periods a year!!!). Would you consider talking that through with her as an option?

Oh, and definitely some iron supplements - ferrous sulphate helped me.

Bless her, the pill helped my periods which were pretty awful.

I had that, diarrhoea, vomiting and fainting then excruciating period pain(vaginal birth a walk in the park by comparison for context).
I was tired enough to need to sleep All day and night as near to preperiod if possible. If not my energy levels did rise post period.
DD went on the pill at 15 as her problems are mild but has helped so much to find the right one so no periods during exams. This may be helpful for your daughter too
Use Ibuprofen, this reduces blood loss, give her loads of understanding, hot water bottles and chocolate. The later may make no difference but knowing your mum cares does.
