Brown discharge for 2 weeks before period - anyone experienced this?

For the past few months, I have been experiencing brown discharge continually for 2 weeks before my period. It happens after ovulation, and sometimes I also experience red blood on ovulation day. It's not enough to use a liner, but it's annoying and has a foul odour.

Doctor has ruled out a cyst, but I can't get many answers from them as to why this is happening. I am experiencing it right now and it feels like a light twist in my uterus.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I assume, as it happens for 2 weeks after ovulation, it could be hormonal? The doctor has suspected endometriosis in the past, but not confirmed.

Have they tested to see if there is a drop in hormones? Are you peri menopausal? What tests have you had so far? Have you seen a gyne?

I had exactly this. I've had blood tests I've had scans and everything was absolutely fine. But it's still kept me worrying every single month when it happened. Finally I got an appointment through my works Private Healthcare. The consultant I saw suggested endometrial ablation. So I had this done just over 6 weeks ago. And it's the best thing I've ever done. Totally stopped that and my periods.
I always thought that was if you just had heavy periods.

Should actually also add that if you want to have more kids in the future then they don't recommend this because that makes it very difficult to conceive or to retain a pregnancy.

I had something like this, and was really worried it was something sinister. It turned out to be a cervical ectropion, which was cauterised and never been an issue since.
