Scared about coil removal

I've had copper coil in 7 years now getting it romoved tomorrow as want to Ttc but I'm really worked up getting it inserted was not a good experience for me what should I expect can someone please tell me it won't be as bad as I think.

It's not as bad as getting it inserted in my experience. Just take a deep breath, they yank and it's gone. No cramps like getting it put in either.

My removal was nowhere near as bad as putting it in. They did have to try a few different things to grip the strings but it came out easily once they'd grasped it. Just a bit of a sharp pain then all done and a little sore after.

oh thank you for your reply's I'm feeling abit more positive I've already cancelled before due to my anxiety around this as my experience getting it put in was so bad but really want to Ttc now. I'm also I little worried as I have work an hour after as well .

I went to work after mine. Wear a sanitary towel just incase but I only got a bit of spotting a day or so later (I'm not sure if everyone does) and then it stopped. Also whatever pain killers you take for period pain just in case.

I had a Mirena coil replaced a few days ago. Removal was better than insertion, but I didn't mind either that much.

It felt like a slight tug for me but 100 x easier than insertion. Having one put back in after child birth was also completely pain free!

Insertion felt really horrible (worse than I expected) but the removal I barely noticed. I was prepared for tons of bleeding and a horrible feeling as it was torn out (I got one where they sew it to your uterus with a couple of stitches) - but I didn’t feel a thing and no bleeding.

The speculum felt very uncomfortable as usual but the same as a smear or IUD insertion

It's over so quick you hardly feel it! They just open you with a speculum, find the strings and give it a quick tug. It really will not hurt. She showed me after as well. And I didn't bleed at all.

Don't worry!

Take a couple of paracetamol an hour before if you’re worried.

Mine was very painful both inserting and removing-I actually cried . Sorry

I've had two mirena removed, total non events. The first removal was followed by a new one being inserted and I didn't feel that either. I was pregnant within days of the second one being removed.

It's waayyyyy easier getting it taken out . You probably won't feel it ... I hate having them put in but coming out is fine .

I pulled my own out last year (by accident). Wouldn't even have known I'd done it without hearing it hit the side of the loo

It was a very odd kind of day that day!
