Hello,
Can anyone help. Ive had extremely heavy peiods, horrific pmt, spots ect for some time, which appear to be getting worse each month. I have started taking the pill yasmin, to help, mainly the pmt, not used for contraception. Got on ok with it, however i have stopped for the 7 day break and ive never had a period like it, ive had a migraine, cramps and really heavy bleeding. I thought the pill would help the heavy periods and it hasnt, why is this?

I had this too - I saw my gynae for prolapse repair and he mentioned I should go on Mirena coil for heavy periods once I was over the surgery. I have a coil fitted 3 months post surgery and it has been fantastic.

Same for me, and mirena changed my life. I was told it could get initially worse and take up to 6 months to settle down. I was desperate enough to try anything, but it actually immediately eased my period and after a couple of months my period stopped completely. I now get very light bleeding randomly about 3 times a year. It's bliss, utter bliss, to be period and PMT free.

I’ve been experiencing this the past 3ish years and have been advised to try Mirena. Haven’t, as yet - heard so many horror stories about it...

@WanderingTrolley1 always remember, people are much more likely to tell you horror stories.
Of course, any medication or medical device always carry risks and can cause side effects

Sorry to see you suffer. I suffered acute period pains and heavy bleeding for 30 years and been to doctors so many times without success. Last year got referred to a gynae who offered me mirena coil. Was cautious at first but best decision as no pelvic pains nor heavy bleeding. Had to be put to sleep to have it fitted as have a tight retroverted uterus and also needed a full pelvic exam, hysteroscopy and curterrage.
