What happens at breast clinic?

I've been referred to breast clinic for an appointment within 3 weeks from now, o went to the Gp with pain in my left breast getting worse for 2 weeks and I thought o could feel something deep down in the tissue but I have very large breasts so wasn't sure.
She said the whole left breast feels very glandular (I have no idea what that means) and she could feel what she thinks is a cyst in the right (I had no idea!)
She has referred me on, can anyone suggest what I can expect at a breast clinic?
I'm on holiday next week so I'm trying not to panic as it's a long time coming this break but I'm secretly hyperventilating.

Hi OP,

First of all don't worry. I found a lump very deep in my right breast that was painful and I was referred urgently to the breast clinic (appointment after a few days wait). I had a physical examination and an ultrasound scan that confirmed it was nothing sinister. Like you I was told I had glandular breasts, which is a nice way of saying lumpy breasts! I was told it was just thickening of the tissue, my breasts are glandular and to wear soft bras etc (sports bras) to avoid aggravating it or causing pain. I wear sports bras most of the time (unless wearing something that requires a proper bra) and my breasts aren't as tender as they used to be.

My mum also has a cyst in her breast close to her armpit and they said they don't usually do anything for it unless it gets bigger or bothersome.

Enjoy your holiday and good luck x

Went along with DH who found a lump.

First to consultant
Then for tests he had mammogram and ultrasound.
Then back to consultant she had results and next steps.

I was amazed it was all done including tests and results in one morning, with other things is been appt, book scan for later, results even later so weeks. It was really good. I hope they have same system where you live.

Good luck I think mostly it turns out to be benign stuff so try not to worry x

Thanks, it's good to have an idea of what will happen. I'm absolutely terrified if I'm honest, trying to be rational and hold it together, I wonder if I should take DH with me for moral support or one of my sisters.

Yes do take someone, I went with DH and metaphorically held his hand and it helped him.

Good luck x
