Possible prolapse ... rigid with fear

I’ve been having bladder problems for some time now. Urinating frequently , sometimes difficult to start the flow , involuntarily losing some urine , low back pain. Also been emptying my bowels several times a day almost every time I do a wee. Sorry it sounds so horrible. 😞
I’ve just been for yet another wee and for some reason decided to use a mirror to take a look at my undercarriage...... to my horror I had a golf ball sized bulge protruding from the bottom of my vagina !! Oh god ... what is it ?? Rang the doctor but no appointments until Monday. I have been standing for hours today batch cooking so this may have affected things. I am so terrified as I’ve recently been reading terrible things about vaginal mesh inserts. Can anyone help with any information please. Sorry to sound like such a wimp but over the last couple of years I’ve had fairly minor but unpleasant health problems and am so tired of it all.

I'm not sure I can add anything helpful but I didn't want to read and leave. It's horrible to have to wait to see the doctor but I'm sure you won't make anything worse before Monday. Standing perhaps hasn't helped but perhaps you could Google it and see if you can do anything to help before you see doc. I'm not sure if resting with your legs up would help really. Don't think about the mesh thing - I don't think they use it now anyway and I think you can have a ring that you can insert yourself to hold things in place. Try to take it easy and be kind to yourself.

Ask for a referral to a woman's health physio. Pelvic floors can support prolapses perfectly well once you've got it working and strong enough. The pessary rings work too. Also, they're really common. Got two myself, and it's tally fine as long as I don't get constipated and I do my exercises. Don't panic.

If it's bad you can have surgery. I had it done years ago.

Don't panic. Yes make an appointment with your gp but also look into woman's health physiotherapy which I have seen do wonders for people. I can recommend somewhere in West Yorkshire if that's the right part of the country?

I've literally just found the same thing. Did some exercises with my moon cup in, laughed at the weirdness of doing star jumps with it nearly falling out. Took it out, got in the shower and felt a lump which in a panic I pushed back in. Google tells me it's a prolapse. Will make a gp appt tomorrow, have been having investigations for possible bowel issues so that could be related I suppose! Also had a long labour with excessive pushing and four miscarriages so lots of unhelpful hormones swimming about. Good to read it's treatable. Good luck OP. I'm with you!

Glos52... your “ bowel issues” strike a chord with me ! I had a colonoscopy done a few years ago to investigate and it came back clear ... apart from some diverticular disease. Common in people my age apparently, 60s.
I got an appt with my GP yesterday. He was a locum but that’s all we seem to get at our practice. Was very pleasant but obviously had no intention of examining me ! As I talked with him I got the feeling I knew more than he did about prolapses anyway ! He was also quite casual but agreed to refer me to a gynaecologist in the NHS. He said it would be about a month to get an initial consultation. I came home and wept and felt very sorry for myself. I then decided to use savings to see a private gynaecologist as I couldn’t face waiting. Am now waiting for them to call back. At the moment I am not in much pain , apart from low backache but if I stand or walk I feel as though I constantly want to empty my bowels and bladder ... even if I’ve only just been to the loo. The thought of being like this for months just depresses the hell out of me. We have some nice short breaks in Europe booked over the next few months and I now feel dread instead of pleasure at the thought. My DH is being lovely about it all and very caring and is trying to reassure me it will all be ok . But will it ? I can’t wait to see the gynaecologist and get moving with some sort of treatment. Each time I google my condition it scares me ... I must stop ! I find myself wondering how many women would have children if they knew what was waiting for them .... I was never told anything about prolapses or all the rubbish things that happen during the menopause. It’s all kept very quiet isn’t it ? I’m sorry for anyone having to go through this, you have my sympathy.

@4seasons that sounds horrible, I feel for you. I have a gp appt on Friday with one of the gps who specialises in women's health so I hope I will get good advice. I hope tot see the gynae soon. From the little I know it should be treatable. You need to at least know what kind of prolapse it is. I hope you get some answers and can look forward to your trips.

We're booked to go to Glastonbury with our 5 year old. Not lifting stuff won't be an option! I am trying not to worry that I'll have to stop running. I've only been doing it a year but it's so good for my state of mind.

I was discussing with colleagues today how much post baby/age 40 stuff happens to women that is just not talked about. It's extraordinary.
