Menstrual cup suitable when I can’t bear tampons?

I have just inserted my first ever menstrual cup and I am not very sure at the moment.

I have two children and since my second I cannot wear tampons at all. I can feel them constantly and they leave me feeling a bit weird in my vagina. Once one even managed to turn itself completely round so was string side in Blush

I have no idea if my vagina is now huge but I simply can’t cope with weiring tampons at all any more.

I was swayed my a monkpresso advert on Facebook where I could have a cup for £5. The firs time I put it in tonight it felt good. However I needed to use the loo soon after and the pressure of that meant I felt the need to pull it out and reinsert. Since then it just feels very uncomfortable. The urge to just pull it out is very strong. I have fiddled and shoved back in and down again as I have read about but it is still very irritating.

Is it just going to take practice or am I going to be a slave to pass?

I had similar experience. After 2nd child tampons weren't comfortable at all.

A lot of perseverance with a cup and it's truly brilliant. I cut off stems and don't feel it once it's in.

My pelvic floor is so buggered through I can't really have bowel movement with it in so will remove and reinsert. Initially that was hard as you describe as the movement seemed to move things around a bit but a bit of jigging it about and it's fine now.

Try and different type also if you don't get on with the first. Moon cup was too rigid for me but Eva from Amazon (Italian one not US version ) was softer and now fab. I'd never use a tampon again.

Bought a few washable bits to go with it and haven't used a disposable item for v long time now. Not sure I could bear a plastic pad now.

Hang in there!

Thank you cheese!

I was impressed that it was fine overnight. But I was finding it really pinching today at any sudden movement. Very, very uncomfortable. However, I read a weird tip about turning it inside out and that may have been the game changer I needed. I can still feel it but it is not at all uncomfortable.

I bought one bamboo washable pad to try and I think this might be the way forward.

Hoorah!

I can't use tampons anymore either. I've tried a couple of cups and the best for me is a large mooncup with the stem totally cut off. I can't feel it at all when it's in. There is some trial and error but worth it not to have to wear tampons.

Thank you RNBrie. I was using pads all the time which I just find so horrible. I had got to the stage I was wearing night time ones all the time which was like wearing a nappy. I am not sure why that has been necessary but with normal day ones I always ended up with staining at the top or bottom.

The cost and environmental impacts are also pretty irritating frankly.

Do you carry a cup with you just in case you start suddenly? What’s it like at the very beginning and very end of the period?

Did you cut off the stem?

Passmethecrisps · 06/05/2019 09:06

Yup. Completely off. I tried it the right way round And it nipped and was uncomfortable. Inside out I can barely feel it. One cycle done and no leaks!
