Urgent breast referral.

Well I haven't ever posted on it but I'm struggling this evening and I don't want to talk to anyone in RL because I'm sure everything is going to be fine.

So I went to the doctor's Tuesday as I had been suffering with pain in my breast and I found a lump. Doctor could feel it and has put in an urgent referral to the breast clinic. Now from reading this is pretty standard procedure. The doctor said he didn't think it was anything to worry about but had to be sure.

My appointment is Thursday morning. I'm fine in the daytime I have two kids and don't really think about it but in the evening I start to get a bit panicky and I can feel my heart racing. Went up to like 106 on my Fitbit the night I'm just frightened I guess. I have handed my notice in at work and I'm starting a new job which I'm really excited about. I'm just worried if it turns out to be anything sinister my new employer won't want me and I won't be able to withdraw my notice at my current job.

Need a hand hold I guess.

Sorry about my terrible grammar ect.

Sorry you are going through this. Completely normal though to be referred under the 2 week rule. I've been referred 3 times and each time the doctor has said BEFORE they've examined me that if I feel a lump, they will refer me.
All mine have been cysts and thought it's easy to be panicked, try to stay calm. Hoping all goes well for you Thanks

*though (twice!)

Thank you lobbylou I'm sure it will be fine just a cyst this is why I haven't told my friends and family don't want to worry them over nothing. Just me over thinking In the evenings I guess. Thanks for your reassurance.Smile

I know how you feel, I was in such a panic but everyone at the hospital was so kind and reassuring and told me the facts and figures statistics of those pesky lumps. So if it happens again I will be calmer this time.

Obviously you’re doing the right thing by being checked and your GP is following protocol in doing the referral. But from what I recall (owner of a couple of lumpy boobs here!) pain means it’s actually unlikely to be anything to worry about.
Good luck.

Thanks everyone it's nice to know I'm not alone. I'll be so glad when Thursday is over and I can start getting excited for my new job!

Hi @CupcakeB so pleased you are all OK!! Well appointment went fine. Was sooo nervous. The consultant could feel the lump which made me feel better as wasn’t sure if I was loosing the plot! Anyway they sent me to ultrasound and the woman said I had a cyst. All looked benign. Consultant was also happy with findings so I feel extremely relieved and happy.
Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend x
