Hand hold please - found a lump

I've done the sensible thing, gone to the GP as soon as I found it, and she said she doesn't think it's anything to worry about, but has still referred me to the breast clinic urgently. I'm so scared, I'm not even 40 yet, what happens next? I'm trying not to panic but it's so hard, can someone hold my hand please?

Hi @VelociraptorRex yes similar i am starting to do my own head in! Cannot wait for Monday to just get it over and done with. Still very grumpy that if I need a scan i will have another wait but I know it can't be helped. Did you have a good Easter? We had loads of social stuff going on so was great and loved weather but am now thinking about this again now the fun (and wine) has finished!

I've eaten far too much of DS's chocolate over Easter, but I'm treating it as medicinal Grin

Thanks @pickletickled
Been for he appointment, had an examination and an ultrasound, and the doctor and radiologist were happy that it's just firm tissue, not a cyst or anything more sinister, which is a massive relief. Glad I went and checked, and I'm so glad it's a service we have such good access to here.
@ladyflower23 how are you doing today?

Good news. I was in a similar situation a few years back. The NHS were bloody awesome. I apologised to every HCP I came in contact with- they all totally reassured me that I wasn't wasting anyone's time. Every bump should be investigate.

That's great news OP!
The vast majority of lumps are not cancerous BUT you absolutely should get them checked out. And even if the news is bad, breast cancer is very, very treatable. Of the two women I know who've had it, both have recovered.

Great news @VelociraptorRex Smile
I am feeling quite confident as some other lumps have appeared but the original lump feels smaller so does seem highly likely it's a hormonal thing. Am hoping they will be able to confirm that at the examination on Monday and I can stop prodding my lumpy boobs! Have a lovely weekend x

Thank you all, absolutely @123rd everyone was completely amazing. Slightly disconcerting having a male radiographer handling me, but he must see so many boobs every day, they were all so lovely to me.
Thank you @ladyflower23 got my fingers crossed for you, have a good weekend and try not to think about it!

Thanks pickletickled. I have had my appointment already this morning, it was very quick! Called straight in, he could feel the lump, which is a cyst and he drained it with a needle. Luckily it was large enough for him to do this without ultrasound as could feel it through the skin. They said they would send me a letter for a follow up ultrasound which I would get in a few weeks. I'm glad that's happening actually as will fully put my mind at rest that there is nothing else going on.
