Hi so sorry if this is tmi, okay I suffer from cervical erosion which has caused me to get lots and lots of discharge. Been to docs countless times about it as I'm at my wits end.. been tested for everything and all comes back clear. But my pants literally get wet like iv peed myself. I have to wear panty liners everyday And doesn't help the issue. Is there anything I can do? Sorry again.

If it's the discharge bothering you have you thought about using a menstrual cup? There's no reason you couldn't use one for that purpose?

Alternatively, if it's the liners, washable ones are way more comfortable than wearing plastic next to your skin all day.

OddBoots · 13/04/2019 18:27

liners are your best bet but if that is making you sore (I know it does for some women) would something internal like a tampon or menstrual cup work?

missyboo87 · 13/04/2019 18:30

Thanks ladies for replying really appreciate it, what are menstrual cups? Feel silly but never ever heard of them. I can wear panty Liners but I get that wet down there that eventually the pant liners come off.. feel so embarrassed as I'm only 31 lol it's unbearable now that I sometimes just wear a pad now which I don't want to do. It's so annoying having to wear a panty liner every single day! Docs are useless aswell. They say it's normal but surely this amount ain't normal.

Has the doctor not mentioned getting it treated? Ask to be referred. Depending on the cause it can come back after a while but it can be treated again.

missyboo87 · 13/04/2019 18:34

The doc just says it's normal, and that's it. They thought it was Bv but it's not that either. Nothing is helpin! Think I shall need to go back and see a different doc and demand a referral because I honestly can't go on like this. I feel like I'm the only woman who has thus issue.

Does it have a smell? I think I may have the same thing

SleepingSloth · 13/04/2019 18:39

You're not, it's really common. My GP tried to fob me off and tell me it didn't need treating. Luckily we have private healthcare so I had it treated quickly. The doctor I seen privately said that if it's causing symptoms such as excessive discharge or bleeding then the NHS will treat, it's just getting past your GP that's often the issue.

Try another GP and tell them how much it's getting you down. Could you afford a private appointment if not ? Not that you should have to. I'm so glad I had mine treated.

missyboo87 · 13/04/2019 18:41

It doesn't have a unpleasant smell, doesn't smell fishy or anything.. just a slight smell nothing bad tho..

Just sick of having to wear a panty liner everyday to which points at times even the liner is soaked. It's actually like iv peed myself!
I avoid getting intimate with my partner as I feel smelly down there.

OP posts:
OddBoots · 13/04/2019 18:47

These are mentrual cups.

It sounds like you might get on better with underwear designed to absorb though, things like modibodi

Are you sure the discharge is from you? It is possible it is from your partner.

picklemepopcorn · 13/04/2019 18:47

Washable liners are lovely. They keep everything dry and cosy. Get the fleece topped ones.

missyboo87 · 13/04/2019 18:49

It's defo from me as I don't get intimate with him a lot due to this..
Iv had this issue for about a year now it's horrible, iv been reading online that wearing panty liners everyday causes infections n things but I honestly don't think I can go without one..

I can't comment at all on the medical stuff, but if you're struggling with liners worth having a look at period pants. They're not cheap but have been a huge help to me and the ones I have are nicer than my 'normal' pants! Ps make sure you're ordering from a uk supplier are some popular brands are US based (like Thinx) and I ended up with unexpected import tax to pay. www.modibodi.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi5bq9tHN4QIV65XtCh1JugvwEAAYASAAEgJM0fD_BwE

yikesanotherbooboo · 13/04/2019 19:07

It's really common in young women and not a medical problem.
It's nothing to worry about and advice about washable liners is good.
If you see a gynaecologist you might be able to persuade them to cauterise your cervix which would probably reduce the amount or discharge in the short to medium term on the grounds that it is effecting your life adversely. However they may feel that as the condition is harmless and physiologically normal it is hard to justify a procedure with risks eg infection. I don't know if it would be available in the NHS or not as the rules have got quite tight around unnecessary procedures and surgeries.
I'm sorry it's worrying you so much .

missyboo87 · 13/04/2019 19:16

Thank you all for replying to me and helping me out really appreciate it, will try everything you all have suggested and hope something works. I'm defo going back to docs and I won't leave until I'm referred lol they said coz my smear was normal recently that I'm fine but I'm taking no more fob offs. I need this issue sorted or something to help me.

I would definitely recommend using washable liners. I wear the washable pads when I’m on my period and it feels just like I’m wearing pants. You can get them in different thicknesses so you should be able to find ones that meet your needs. I used to get yeast infections from disposables and these haven’t recurred since I switched to washables.

BertieBotts · 13/04/2019 19:19

It's normal for some of us to need panty liners every day, they won't give you an infection. Change them more often if they are getting too wet. Yes I have sometimes used my mooncup, I wouldn't recommend tampons though.

Peterpiperpickedwrong · 13/04/2019 19:50

Some women have more discharge than others. It’s perfectly normal. You shouldn’t shy away from intimacy because of it. My DH never batted an eyelid when we first got together and I said I wasn’t comfortable not wearing liners because otherwise I was in wet knickers all day, and we have now been married 22 years! Never had infections due to using liners.

There is a whole thread here and whilst there are women saying no they don’t wear them there are HUNDREDS that say they need to.

Mine doesn't sound as bad as yours as if i don't soak through liners, if it was that bad I'm sure I'd be harassing the doctors for referall to a gynae. But just wanted to say that I do have a lot of discharge (I'm 25 - always have done but it's a bit worse now since I had my DD who is 10months), I've worn disposable liners every day since I was about 15 and I've never had BV, or thrush, or any kind of infection. I sometimes go through 2 or 3 in a day if it's really bad, not because they're soaked through but just because they're not super absorbent so if I start feeling uncomfortable I just change it. And I take them off before bed because I don't get the discharge when I'm in bed.

missyboo87 · 13/04/2019 21:09

My partner doesn't bother about it but I just feel embarrassed by it, I can go through 4-5 a day iv always worn a liner at nights coz I'm scared if I don't I will be soaked and so will the bed sheets lol.. I just feel dirty and smelly.. I shower daily due to it, don't use scented soaps or anything. Docs seem to fob me off saying it's normal, they have done swabs and they have came back clear so I guess I'm stuck with this, it's just annoying!

Pythonesque · 13/04/2019 22:02

Your description makes me wonder about rare things like an ectopic ureter (unlikely if this is a recent new problem) or a bladder fistula. I hope you can get a referral and explore fully what is going on.

DonPablo · 13/04/2019 22:05

What about period pants until you get it sorted?

bilbodog · 13/04/2019 22:11

Have you tried tenna pads because they will soak up more than a normal liner?

missyboo87 · 13/04/2019 22:12

Yeh im gonna have to try something until I get a referral because this is just so annoying now tbh, dunno if it's due to my cervical erosion tho but just want it sorted now
