Numbness ...endometriosis?

I'm on the waiting list for a laparoscopy.
They think it's endo and I've had it years.
Since October I can't touch the inside right part of my vagina or I get a sharp pain.
When I sit it hurts sometimes.
My lower right back sometimes goes numb and the inside of my right leg and right part of vagina.
I've asked for a mri scan or ct scan they said lap is the best way.
There is a 7 month lap wait time and I'm only a month in.
I can't have sex,I can't wash myself because I get a sharp pain inside.
It's all the right side.
What's going on?
What can I do ?

Hi there,

I had a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy last week and they found stage 3 endometriosis. I had been complaining for about 10 years with doctors doing little.

You are doing the right thing in getting this surgery. I had a very good, young female doctor who really understood me.

Surgically, a doctor will be able to excise or cauterise the painful lesions. They will then put you on hormone therapy that stops them growing back. 70% of people don't grow the lesions back after surgery.

The most shocking thing for me has been the fact that the post-operative pain is NOTHING like my monthly period pain.

Good luck to you and don't be afraid - it can get better.

@Oscardelarenta I want to have a baby so I'm not sure how that would work with hormones etc

Hormone treatment post-operatively will depend on when you want to try for a baby. If you want to try immediately then starting straight after the lap is the best option. If you want to wait a year or two then hormone treatment will be fine to have until you are ready to try. Although personally if you really want a baby and are in a position to have one then I would start trying as soon as you are well enough.

Endo can cause nerve pain. The wait for surgery shouldn’t be 7 months on the NHS (although I know it can be longer sometimes). It’s worth calling the secretary of your surgeon and asking to be put on a cancellation list because of how much the pain is affecting your life. Making friends with the surgeons secretary is always a good thing Smile

In the meantime book and see your GP, they can prescribe painkillers (naproxen maybe considering what you describe) to helpz

All great advice.

The hormones are Mirena, an IUD which in inserted and can be removed any time.

Would recommend this if you don’t want kids straight away.

Gyno told me the lap makes you super fertile so if you’re ready soon, go for it
