Lady probs - missing IUD string and other stuff going on xx

Hi xx
Having a bit of trouble in the lady area :( just wondering if anyone’s had the same xx

4 weeks ago I went on antibiotics.

3 weeks ago I got bad thrush (at the same time of ovulation...I hadn’t had an ovulation bleed ever but I did then...I figured it was the antibiotics messing with my hormones).

2 weeks ago I started to get abnormal and excessive discharge (so sorry for TMI - like a think, blobby mucus that was blood tinged).

One week ago I then started my period. The night before I had excruciating cramps and dull ache pain in my back and legs. Thought it was worse than I’d ever experienced but just wrote it off.

Now a few days after period I’m still spotting a tiny bit here and there (very slightly pink in colour and a bit blobby again).

A few days ago...stabbing pain in womb on right hand side.

Anyway - just went to check my coil strings.....and one is clearly missing!

I fear the severe cramps I felt that night was actually the coil on its way out (or up...or sidewards)....and that it is now lodged somewhere it shouldn’t, hence the stabbing pains (they’re not where I think an ovary would be....they’re more in the womb on the side).

Has anyone else had one string missing on a coil? Does this indicate it’s been displaced and is stabbing somewhere it shouldn’t? Xx

Would a displaced coil cause discharge like this and spotting? :( xxxxx

You really need to see your GP or Family Planning Clinic.

It could be a sign of some infection - it needs to be checked out by qualified medics, not a message board.

Yes a coil can be tilted so certainly go see your GP in the first instance. Could it cause discharge? That I’m less certain about. Your GP can give you a better response.

I’d be treating this very very seriously. I had sepsis as a result of a coil that had moved a little.
Was fobbed off for months by the GP. Pain, awful discharge, general unwellness, night sweats.
GP failed to 1. examine me, 2. Swab for the right pathogens (got the nurse to do basic STI screen instead, 3. Send me for a scan to locate the coil.
Luckily a&e followed a sepsis protocol and I am fine. Probably infertile, but we’re done anyway.
