I have had scans and an initial gynae appointment at which they also took a biopsy of a polyp that was protruding from the center of the cervix.
I had a call today as they want to fast track me for a hysteroscopy tomorrow so I'm assuming the polyp was abnormal as the scan showed a double thickness endometrium and another polyp.
How uncomfortable will this be.I have to drive 40 miles each way to the hospital and will I be ok for work on Thursday?
All advice and experiences welcome.
I will be joining the hysterectomy thread soon I think.

It's a little uncomfortable while they're doing it, but afterwards it's completely fine. I drove straight after mine.

Best of luck.

I had 1 after i was sterrilised it was a very odd sensation and it did hurt but a few deep breaths and it was fine I took some painkillers before I went I was fine afterwards and got the bus home.

Mine didn't actually hurt. It felt more like a period cramp, but only as the camera passed through my cervix. Once in there was no pain at all.

I work near the hospital, so I just took my lunchbreak early to get it done, then walked straight back to work. I wore a panty liner afterwards, just in case I got any bleeding, but I didn't.

Check how they are doing it - I have had it done twice both under GA with no choice in matter - both times doing a biopsy of fibroids. If under a general then no you will need day off work, otherwise depends on how you feel after.

It's under local.
Thanks everyone,I can cope with what is being described.
The fast tracking has got me a little worried but I suppose if there is an issue at least it is being felt with swiftly and I am on the path to having a hysterectomy anyway.

Good luck with it and as you said least you have been seen quickly

PenguinPandas · 26/02/2019 14:31

I think its much better to be fast tracked as whatever it there is there anyway and at least this way if the worst happens gets treated quickly whereas when I've gone as non-urgent its been 6 months. Hope it goes OK.

So I had my hysteroscopy. It didn't hurt at all, just a little mini cramp as they put the water in so I was ready to be braver than needed.
So I now have so much going on that I need another hysteroscopy under GA,since I am being fast tracked I am seeing different Consultants for the diagnosis and final treatment plan. The lat polypectomy was OK but he was surprised I didn't know but he didn't know that I was being fast tracked it that the final result would be hysterectomy. If I get asked about the Morena coil I may have to be very firm(loose it).
I will be given an appointment for the next 2weeks.Wierdly I'm not worried about cancer but affording a taxi there and back.

Oh good... I'm pleased you had a decent pain-free experience. Sounds the same as mine with just that little crampy feeling. Good luck for your future treatment!

Penguinandbear · 01/03/2019 00:14

Glad it was fairly pain free. General one is obviously pain less - I was lucky and had mine on the NHS in a private hospital and was very civilised with my own room, TV and fancy sandwiches, tea and biscuits and two nurses to myself. Hope there's nothing too serious going on.
