Mirena has moved after check up

I had my IUD put in over 2 months ago and had my check up last Monday. The appointment was very quick, I was in and out the door again in about 5 minutes. The nurse said everything was perfect and that was that.

Since then, I've been sore - nothing serious but enough to feel constantly uncomfortable. There was some bleeding, but that could just be my hormones as I'm still having irregular bleeding as a side effect of the IUD. The most noticeable issue is that the strings now feel a good bit longer, so the IUD has moved from where it should be.

I'm going to see my GP about it on Monday, but I'm wondering should I be worried, is it dangerous if an IUD moves?

I also don't want to place blame as I'm not a professional and don't really know for sure, but I can't help but feel that something the nurse did at the checkup was to blame. I had absolutely no problems , other than irregular bleeding, until last Monday. Now I swear it feels as though the ends of the strings are scraping against me every time I move.

Im feeling pretty miserable at the moment because of it, hoping for some reassurance mostly (if there is any to be had)!

Tbh I would just assume the strings had moved position. It's a bit of a leap to suggest the nurse has caused some sort of huge issue.

I hardly think it's a leap, when everything was 100% fine until I had the check up, but after I'm in pain and the strings feel much longer than they did before. The strings moving position would indicate that the IUD has moved?

Like I said, I dont know and can't be sure, but what else am I meant to think? It just happened to move on it's own, just after a rushed vaginal examination?

I'm more concerned that it moving might be dangerous to me in some way, I don't know if it's a "huge issue" and never said that, but I'm worried about it which is why I'm asking about it.

Hope you get on ok with the GP. I agree it sounds like something has changed

I think it would be reasonable to ask for a scan, especially as it is now causing pain and bleeding.

If it's not in the correct position, it may become less effective as a contraceptive.
