TMI - Fishy odour

For about a year I've been struggling with a lot of discharge and fishy odour. I braved a Dr's visit last month and they found I had an entropian which I had cauterised. I expected the discharge and smell to lessen but its still there and its very strong. Its there even after a shower, my pelvic floor muscles are very weak and I'm wondering I'm urinating a bit and that's the cause of smell. I had swabs done and it showed up no infection.

Its really embarrassing and I don't know what to do?

Sounds like classic bacterial vaginosis to me... see your gp, not sure what the treatment is but it's quite common and the symptoms you have sound classic.

Unconventionalmum · 03/02/2019 13:37

Surely bacterial vagnosis would have shown up in the swabs?

I agree, sounds like bacterial vaginosis. See your Gp, I used to have it a lot but it's easily treated with antibiotics.

Is bacterial vagnosis undetectable on swabs?

The BV test looks at the ph level and enzymes and these can give an indication of bv.

Are you sure it was an entropian because that's something with the eyes.

I would go to a gum clinic and get a full screen from there. Plus many offer same day results.

I meant ectropion 😂 they said swabs all came back normal and not to worry. It was only when she checked my cervix, that she saw the ectropion.

It's awful and so embarrassing. I'll go back to the Dr's but I have seen treatment for BV in the pharmacy, perhaps I could use that xx

Don't be embarrassed. It's nothing they haven't seen before.
If you cannot face it, you can buy home testing kits.
