I would speak to your GP: I started with pains like this and it was due to endometriosis.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 29/12/2018 22:53

I have had this for years, it's awful.
I was due to get a laparoscopy done to see if it is endometriosis but became pregnant and still haven't gotten around to it!
See your gp as unfortunately it won't get better on its own

What ElyElyOy wrote. I had this too and in my case it was due to endometriosis. Pain like you describe is not normal and you need to determine the cause also. GP may simply want to treat the symptoms but do not be fobbed off with just this. You need a gynae referral too.

Another one saying get to gp, had very similar symptoms (except my leg pain just felt like the period cramps were not just in my abdomen but going down to my knees, bloody agony) and also endo.

notangelinajolie · 30/12/2018 15:18

Interesting … I never put the two together but I used to get period leg pain and I also had Endometriosis.

ChristmasSprite · 30/12/2018 15:21

I think pregnancies cured my undiagnosed endo but then on other threads posters have said bad cramps not necessarily endo.

Pregnancy definitely great for them though as its the cervix and prostos causing all the pain and congestion.

I know pregnancy is not the solution, but I certainly is when it happens, and at least knowing that, might make things more bearable if it's not endo and nothing else can be done.

I've had this and feel your pain- literally! It's awful. I once almost collapsed coming out of the shower, as it came on from nowhere just as my period was getting going. I still get pain down one thigh- the left one- for the first half a day.

I found the trick was to take paracetamol at the very first sign of bleeding.

A friend of mine who had bad pain was told by a consultant she saw to take mefafemic acid (or tranexamic) [sp] for 3 days before her period was due.

You could try OTC Feminax and see if that works by following the regime.

Your GP may refer you but getting a diagnosis for endo is really hard as it needs a lap. investigation and if it's in your thighs that would be hard to find.

Pregnancy took the edge off mine for a year or so after my periods came back.

Then they became progressively more painful each month and now I'm back on bc (depo) to stop them completely (with the added bonus of not worrying about getting pregnant again).

They're really quite debilitating if they're left alone. Otc painkillers don't touch the sides.

Ughh I'm its never ending always something , I also have a lot of pain deep inside my tummy during sex , Ive had children and i started getting pain about 1 year after the birth of my last ......

I've already had an ultrascan on my womb but for Fibroids and the lady said it looked fine ....

The things us women go through 🙄😩

Pain during sex is another tell tale sign of endo. (I get this too and it's bloody horrible! I feel your pain op, quite literally!)

The only way to tell if you have it for sure is with a laprosocopy. Definitely go and get checked out and good luck.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 31/12/2018 13:43

Gagglegeese

Endo is not normally detected on ultrasound scans as the endo deposits are so small. I have had more internal ultrasounds than I care to mention and none of those detected the endometriosis present in my uterine cavity.

Deep pain during sex is also another strong indicator of endo being present. You really need a referral to a gynae. I would also keep a daily pain and symptom diary as well now if you do not already do this.

Gagglegeese · 31/12/2018 22:18

😫im having issues with my bladder which requires a camera up there as well, and all my symptoms and what you girls have said are making it seem like it's pointing to that.... I already had an operation at the beginning of this year and I had one the year before 😣, looks like another may be due .... Thought 2019 was going to be better .

I could push through the period pain and live with it as it's once a month but it's the pain during sex and bladder issues that I don't think I could live with 🙁🙁🙁

I think I will keep a diary of my symptoms as I can never seem to recall important details

Endo can cause bladder problems: have endo on my bladder.

Endo UK have a diary sheet you can use.

I had this actually coincide with anemia 2 years ago, sometimes iron levels being low can cause these leg pains.
