Lump in breast 4 weeks after birth

Hi..first time posting here (not sure if I’ve done it right!) I will be going to the doctors about this but wanted to know if anyone has had anything similar... I had a baby 4 weeks ago. I’m not breastfeeding and as far as I’m aware, my milk isn’t producing any more (nothing coming out of them anyway!) anyway, I haven’t checked my breasts for a while so thought I would tonight. I found a lump in one of them (possibly a smaller one in the other side but not 100% sure).. it’s a little smaller than a pea..could this be due to not long since having a baby? I’ve almost stopped bleeding..very little blood now.. I suffer so bad with health anxiety so in desperate need of reassurance until I can get in the doctors. Thanks in advance

Hello ladies.. so I've been for my follow up appointment. The doctor said that she doesn’t think it’s anything to worry about but can’t be 100% sure so she’s referred me to the clinic to get scanned...She said it feels like fibroadenoma and said its mobile so fingers crossed it's nothing! Xx

Mobile sounds good! Hopefully the scan appointment won't take too long to come through, it's good that your doctor sounded positive about it.

That sounds promising! Did doctor give you any indication of wait times?
If it's ages away, call the relevant department and ask for a cancellation!

I think if the lump is movable it's something less sinister? All the best at the scan.

Scare monger here but I'm saying it anyway.
Don't ever ever ignore lumps in the breast.
Not after anything. A miscarriage or childbirth. Breastfeeding or not breastfeeding and don't ever self diagnose.

MummyKSA · 26/01/2019 11:11

She said that she I should expect a call within a week and an appointment in two weeks. Xx

Hi ladies. My appointment came through today. Friday 11th Feb!! I'm seriously struggling to believe that it's nothing. I can't stop thinking the worse 💔 Feels like such a long time away!!

Can you plan some other things to do in the meantime to take your mind off it? Promise yourself something lovely on the 12th and whenever you start worrying try to deliberately switch your mind to that instead.

I know it's hard not to worry, but remember: 96 out of every 100 women referred for screening get the all clear, with no sign of anything out of the ordinary on the scan. 96% chance of everything being just fine in 12 days time!

Of those 4/100 women who are asked to do further tests, 75% of them will not have cancer. So 99% of women referred for screening are in perfect health, and the scans/additional tests were just a necessary precaution for them. The numbers are very much in your favour here!

Hello all!!

So I went for my scan this morning and I don't know how to feel about it.

So the doctor had a feel around and drew on my breasts where I thought the lump was... I asked her if they felt worrying and she said "no, but you're here for further tests so we'll send you for a scan"..

Went for my scan, she scanned where the lines were drawn on.. so literally the insides on my boobs but nowhere else - she couldn't find anything..

Went back to the doctor to discuss results, she said she couldn't feel anything and the scan didn't find anything..

This is obviously amazing but I'm not convinced... I KNOW I can feel a lump.. but the scan didn't show anything and the doctor couldn't feel anything..

I am still absolutely losing my frigging mind.

I didn't look where the lady was scanning and was thinking of other things so wasn't paying any attention.. but he said she did scan over where I thought the lump was but I'm honestly not convinced..

The doctor recons it's just hormones to why I can feel tenderness...

What do I do?!?! Should I accept there's nothing there or go back to my gp?

I honestly thought today would make me feel relief and be so over the moon but I'm just not convinced xx

Could it be that what you're feeling as a lump, they're basically not registering as it feels within the range of normal for them?

That does sound frustrating though, I'm sorry it wasn't a more conclusive outcome for you. Flowers

MummyKSA · 11/02/2019 19:58

What do you mean @cucumbergin? Xx

I mean that they might be saying "I don't feel anything" which sounds to you and me like they're saying all smooth, no lumps, but what they actually mean is "I don't feel anything other than the normal level of lumpiness for this stage post-partum so all is well"? Does that make any sense?

Just thinking back of going to GP asking about a lump on my cervix and she said she couldn't feel anything. I thought it felt lumpy but to her, it was just normal - I guess she was a lot more familiar with different cervixes than I was!

MummyKSA · 12/02/2019 00:36

Oh right I see what you mean.. I just don't know..I'm not convinced at all :( xx
