Painful at end of urination/painful vagina

Hi,

For 2 months now I have had pain at the end of urinating and for some time after I pee too. It started as a uti which I was prescribed antibiotics for but now no infection shows.
2 days after the uti came I got the worst leg pain and back pain which I still have. I have had every test done by my doctor, urine test, culture test, internal, swabs for everything, bloods, ultrasound - all clear.
I went to see a chiropractor who thinks I have a bulging disc or pinched nerve that would be causing the back/leg and pain down there at the end of peeing and after. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before or have any suggestions?
It's really getting me down now :(

See a vulva specialist/dermatologist to check it nothing to do with the skin. If it's very red and or swollen it might be.

One doctor thought that but then thought against it as they didn't think that would be causing the burning pain up in my urethra or vagina

Low oestrogen? A blood test can check for it.

Carm127 · 03/12/2018 23:20

That was checked in my blood tests too and came back all ok :( the weird thing is when I've been on my feet all day and kept moving the next day my pee pain isn't as bad so I do think I should listen to the doctor and chiropractor when they say it's linked to my back pain

A pinched nerve sounds likely. It’s not infection if urine culture has come back clear. The back/leg pain and improvement with exercise also point this way.
Can the chiro suggest some exercises to help?

Carm127 · 03/12/2018 23:29

Ok that's reassuring to know, just sounded crazy when I was first told that it could be related. Yes he gave me some exercises which I have been doing every night. Today is the first day the peeing pain hasn't been as bad so I'm hoping for the same tomorrow, morning is always the worst when I have been in the same position sleeping

The bit I'm stuck with now is it's such a waiting list to see a urologist so im going private and paying for it myself to get things moving quicker. The doctor thinks I need an mri instead of my back, should I cancel the urology appointment and go for mri instead? So stuck!

I am not sure if you are at any risk but could this not be an STI?

mrbob · 04/12/2018 11:08

Sorry just saw the swab bit

Carm127 · 04/12/2018 11:29

Yeah had every test done! But because the back and leg pain came on at the same time they think it's all connected somehow? Just never heard of that

Is it pain or an irritation? I ask because I have something similar with the back pain, a numb patch down my right thigh and frequent sense of an irritated bladder. Feels more irritated - sort of scratchy rather than painful. If that makes any sense at all?

Exercise helps the back pain - chiropractor said it’s a knackered pelvis from having children and carrying them around. It all gets worse when I put weight on too.

Carm127 · 04/12/2018 12:09

I can't even describe the pain down there, it's like a burning pain that comes on. I have a numb patch down my left leg, sounds similar to what you have. Everything your saying makes sense to me, it's so hard to describe to someone as it's the strangest combination. The chiropractor told me all the nerves run through that area so it could be causing the irritation down there

Carm127 - you may have never heard of it but your doctor and chiropractor are both professionals with experience. It may sound strange but isn’t it worth further investigation?

The nerves supplying the vulva and urethra are close to the nerves supplying the thigh and lower back. Pain signals can be felt very differently in different areas - burning/stinging/throbbing can all be signs of nerve impingement (pinched or trapped nerve), as is numbness.

I think an MRI of your back would be helpful. You can still pursue the urology route privately if you wish
