Hysterectomy aged 30

What are people's experiences of laparoscopic hysterectomy in their 30s or younger?

I've been bleeding non stop for months, yestersay I should have had a TCRE and sterilisation but my gynae forgot to give me the zoladex injection beforehand. The surgeon notified me of this and said we would try an ablation (which we knew was unlikely to work as I have an enlarged uterus) and failing that a temporary rollerball treatment with a view to coming back for TCRE.

When she got in neither treatment was possible due to the amount of blood and as I was waking up she recommended a hysterectomy in the next few weeks ( next week if possible). She thinks the TCR E would fail anyway as my lining is overactive with its growth. There were no polyps or signs of cancer.

I'm excited to have it done but I know it's not to be taken lightly. What are your experiences? I've had period issues my whole adult life, and while this 3 months bleed is the worst I've had I don't feel sad at present about losing my womb. We don't get along 😂 I'll be having it laparoscopicly and retaining my cervix and ovaries.

I should also add I have two children and we felt our family was complete before these issues.

Hi I am 33 I had a total laprascopic hystorectomy just over 2 weeks ago now. I have 2 children so this was the best option for myself. Since a young age I had unmanageable, heavy periods and pregnancy was like heaven for me. After having my youngest this became worse I got PID after my youngest which is not a great experience. I put off getting my hystorectomy done as I had alot of doubts about it last year I had ablation which helped for a few months however when the bleeding started again it was continuous with the longest bleed being 5 months. However unlike yourself due to damage done from the PID and previous operations on cervix and tubes I had them both removed which was a shock because the original plan was to remove only my womb as the surgeon was sure this was best. However, during surgery found more damage than expected to both. After surgery it was like a complete relief the pain was different to what I had been experiencing before. The recovery itself although its only twoish week is not as bad as expected however it is a challenge with young children especially if you don't do the resting you are advised to. The only thing I would change is that i would do it sooner.

That is a really helpful reply, I'll keep it all in mind. Thankyou!

I'm looking forward to having it done, I have my date for it which is Monday and I think I'm going to get a lot of relief from it. Take care of yourself! Are you on the hysterectomy support thread?

No I didn't know that there was one I will have a look for it. Good luck for Monday. I hope all goes well for you.
