Hystorectomy tomorrow preop nerves

Hi as the title says I am scheduled for a hystorectomy tomorrow last resort have tried all other options and they have not worked. This morning I woke up with the worst case of nerves I have ever experienced. I understand the reasons behind my surgery and how the outcome will help to take pain away although I also understand that the recovery process can be difficult.During a previous surgery it all went wrong and I went into anaphylactic shock and my heart stopped woke up in the ICU 9 hours later with alot of tubes coming from every where, the cause has now been identified as NSAIDS, latex and the iodine solution which was used and flagged as a do not use. Now all i can think is worst case scenarios and the what ifs have set in . The doctor prescribed diazepam which i have take every day since my preop last Wednesday. So far this morning I have cleaned my house, done yoga it usually has a calming effect on me but not today, i made sure i was working today as a distraction and have planned to watch movies with kids before bed tonight. Any ideas on ways to help pre surgery nerves?

How are you @Loppeyloo? Hope the surgery went well and the team put you at ease. Flowers

Hi, 2 days post surgery and happy to say the surgical team were brilliant my surgeon was very understanding of my nerves and went out of his way to put me at ease he actually stood with me as the aneastatist put me to sleep and let me talk about random stuff like whether he plays music while doing his surgeries, what tv shows he watches. Had some minor complications resulting in a slightly different outcome than hoped for by myself with both tubes, and cervix having to be removed. However ovaries managed to be saved so won't go through menopause (fingers crossed on that one) as surgeon says they can still shut down not exact words but basic meaning. Other than feeling tired and slightly sore and having a puffy tummy and several nurses who didn't believe I'd had a hystorectomy as I followed the new get up get moving asap guideline there is a specific name however unsure if this is scottish nhs or whole of UK. I feel absolutely tired and slightly sore and bruised but that's kind of to be expected.

Glad to hear it went so well and that you had a good team. Hope you have a speedy recovery, week done getting up and moving (In Scotland so know the scheme you mean). Don't push yourself too hard and get plenty of rest Flowers

Glad to hear it went so well. I was encouraged to get up and about as soon as possible (in England) so guessing this is standard in the UK. You will feel tired very easily at first - don't try to do too much; rest when you feel you need to. I found I had alternate days when I felt tired and speaking to others, this is quite common.
