Forceps recovery...weird symptoms

Hey, I'm new to this but desperate for help. I had a very long labour and ended up having forceps. I'm 7weeks post birth. Has anyone else had these symptoms, and I apologise in advance for the graphic detail;
-heaviness when I stand

  • pain in groin
  • a balloon like lump/bulge in my perineum when I go to the toilet (don't think it's piles)

I hope someone can help!

Thank you in advance

Hello! I too had a forceps delivery almost 3 years ago.
I remember the heaviness when standing and felt a lump when I sat down. I couldn't see anything and mentioned it to the nurse at my 6 week check. She said if it was still there in another few weeks to come back.
The lump slowly decreased and now I feel completely normal down there.
Sorry, never did find out what it was but wanted to let you know you aren't alone!

I think these are all normal symptoms following birth but if you're in any way worried go and see your doctor for peace of mind

It could be a small prolapse. I would suggest seeing your Gp. In the meantime, make sure you are doing your pelvic floor exercises regularly and properly.

I didn’t have forceps but a episiotomy and suction delivery. I have very similar to what you are describing and referred to post natal physio. Basically I had very bruised and weak inside muscles. The physio helped a lot.
I told GP at roughly 9 weeks & told it takes time to heal and then at 14 weeks it hadn’t improved so demanded a physio referral which came through in 3 weeks- it was needed & glad I persisted.
Harder said than done but I was told to avoid lifting (even shopping bags out of trolly/car, carrying heavy items, avoid hoovering/mopping.

Definitely ask to be referred, it will help. Xx

Thank you everyone. I have made an appointment to see my GP. Thank you for the advice!
