Bleeding and pain mid cycle

I've been experiencing light bleeding for 3 days mid cycle with abdominal pain. The pain is on my right side where I normally get ovulation pain if it's that side's turn! The pain doesn't get worse to touch.

The bleeding was a bit clotty but still light to start with if that makes any sense. Then became a bloody discharge but has become slightly worse this afternoon. My periods are heavy but regular 28 / 30 day cycle. I do get a bit of ovulation pain each month but never bleeding or ongoing pain.
I'm otherwise feeling OK. I did an ovulation test and it says I'm ovulating which seems right as I'm day 16 of my cycle today. (I track on clue app).

I'm going to go to my GP but I'm obviously worried about what it could be. I wondered if anyone had experienced ovulation bleeding before? Or maybe had bleeding like this with something else? I'm reluctant to Google because I'm afraid it will be a cancer symptom. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Endometriosis is a possibility here; this can cause both mid cycle pain and heaviness of bleeding. Are your periods painful in nature at all?. Would also suggest you keep a pain and symptom diary; this will give the gynae clues.

You should ideally have a referral to a gynaecologist.

My periods have become more painful in the past year. At times I've had to lie on the bed not able to do anything from pain. But the pain isn't constant.

The pain I had due to endometriosis came and went as well. It is certainly in your interests to find out exactly why this is happening to you. Any pain that is cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked further to see if endometriosis is the cause. It can also cause heavy bleeding and is the second most common gynae problem seen in women after fibroids.
