Sore vulva

I’m on holiday in Greece and won’t be able to see my GP for two weeks. I’m finding it painful to pee, it seems to burn the skin as it comes out. I had a look with my mirror and the whole vulva is red, sore-looking and slightly swollen. It feels like I have broken glass in my pants. Any ideas what it could be? It’s not totally debilitating but the painful peeing is awful.

Vaseline on your vulva before and after you wee, ice packs if you can get hold of them. You should be able to get some lidocaine ointment from a pharmacy with is basically topical anesthetic. If you can get tested for UTI do. Otherwise back home go see you GUM clinic and get them to check if it's vestibulitis. Good luck Flowers

Cystitis? That’s hell

Whatsthispain · 28/09/2018 19:55

Pharmacies abroad are really good, I'd go and ask.

Thanks folks. There’s no pharmacy in the village and the nearest town is quite far away. I found aiming tepid water from the shower head was soothing. I’ve never had cystitis, is that what it sounds like?

Could it be thrush? If so, live yoghurt can help! That might hurt if thrush is not the cause though.

SausageOnAFork · 29/09/2018 07:49

Sounds more like thrush than cystitis.
If you can’t get to a pharmacy then live yoghurt will help.

SausageOnAFork · 29/09/2018 07:51

With cystitis you will feel the need to pee all the time and the burning will feel internal rather than on your vulva.

Sounds like thrush. I always got pain around the urethra with it and burning when weeing.

Yogurt externally should help.

For the urinary symptoms. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. Drink it regularly.

cranberry juice can help (drinking it that is) for urine infection. It encourages the bacteria to be flushed from the bladder ( or something like that).
Try the live yoghurt on the sore bits though I've never tried it.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice. I fly back to the UK tomorrow so will be able to go to Boots. I don’t think it’s the actual urinary tract, it seems to be the skin itself, it’s taut and painful to the touch, even without peeing. I will see if I can push the GP surgery to fit me insoo er than two weeks.

Got home and persuaded surgery to fit me in today. Those who said thrush were right. Wiping after wee-ing still feels like I’m using a broken bottle rather than tissue, but I got creme and a pessary today, so hopefully will get better soon.
