No periods but not menopausal?

Looking for a bit of reassurance, or insight. No periods for over 2 years (I'm early 50s), following some years of what seemed to be classic perimenopause symptoms. Just assumed I'd gone through relatively without trouble and counted my blessings. Recently had a very small amount of bleeding after sex. It didn't last but I followed the advice and duly went to the doctor and have now had a scan. Scan suggests that I haven't gone through the menopause and that there may be some sort of "growth" or possibly air bubbles! On the scan, I could see some bumps. Likely to need another scan, but have to wait to hear from the GP. Was told at the scan that it was nothing to worry about, but that's easier said than done! I'm wondering/hoping it might be fibroids but oddly enough the suggestion that I haven't gone through the menopause afterall has left me feeling more anxious. Anyone had anything similar?

This is strange indeed. Did you have any hot flushes and vaginal dryness?

Why are you hoping that it will be fibroids? Confused If you want fibroids, you can have mine Grin No, seriously, they're hell!!!

My period is 3 weeks late after struggling with anemia for two years. I am hoping that this is IT, done, and also hoping my fibroids will somehow shrink with it. However I have no other symptoms whatsoever and never ever been late except when I was pregnant...

Bumps? Hardly a medical diagnosis! Did they not explain what they were and where?

They can see if you are post meno by the state of your ovaries- they would be atrophied (tiny) and not showing any ovarian activity if you were post meno.

If the lining of your womb was irregular- 'bumpy'- this might need further investigation and perhaps a biopsy.

Unfortunately, some scans are done by technicians not doctors, so the amount of info they tell you is very limited.

Try not to worry- whatever it is, you will be treated.
