Fluid Mass Endo?

Hi, I'm hoping for someone who has had similar symptoms or experience. I had an internal ultrasound scan on Friday and they said my ovaries and uterus looked fine but they could see a fluid mass. I'm assuming it was close to my left ovary. They obviously never gave any explanation and said the consultant would look over the scan pictures and send the report to doctor. I have had heavy periods for a few years. Over the last 18 months have had terrible pelvic, hip and leg pain, bleeding in between periods, pain during and after sex (occasionally) and fatigue. My bowel movements are always hit and miss as I suffer with coeliac disease so I can't really gauge them.

I also went to see the gynaecologist a few weeks back for an internal examination and he ended up taking a biopsy of my cervix as he wanted to check a particular area. Although he said it does "look" like cancer.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences to this. Obviously endometriosis is scary but cancer scares me even more. I'm hoping someone can shed some light. Thank you!

Hi OP
Didn't want to read and run but your post is very confusing when I look at your other one from 2 weeks ago, when you said your gynae said it didn't look like cancer, but here, you're saying the opposite.

Also, you said before that you'd had a biopsy already - you should have got the results by now.

I suggest you ring your doctor to chase up progress if you are waiting for test results.

I hope all your fears are unfounded.

Sorry predictive text. Your right he said it doesn't look like cancer. Hence why I mentioned him saying it. I should read over my posts before submitting.

I haven't had my results. I called my GP on Thursday to ask if they had received any letters or results back yet and they haven't. She did however give me the number to the gynaecologists secretary should I want to chase it up.

Have you been sent for a blood test or on. 2week wait service?
Endometriosis cannot be seen on a scan but chocolate type cysts caused by endometriosis can. However theyre solid not fluid. It depends if it’s a mass of fluid... a fluid filled mass... fluid can be for many different reasons and best left until the dr gets back to you. If it was urgent life changing results they would get you back in ASAP.

I have yearly blood tests due to being coeliac and the most recent back in July came back normal. The girls who did the scan on Friday didn't really say a lot and just referred to it as a fluid mass. I get pain were I imagine my ovaries are but they did say they looked healthy. After asking my symptoms I was having she did refer to endometriosis, that's why I popped my questions on MN.

My biopsy was done on 30th July and the receptionist on Thursday did say that these types of tests do take longer. My smear last year came back normal too so I'm not too concerned about that. I think I'll chase it up with the gynaecologist department on Tuesday.

I had the same, I have adenomyosis and having a hysterectomy on 17/9 symptoms very similar to yours

MumOfDiamonds · 29/08/2018 09:35

Thank you for your message gttia. The consultant wants to scan me herself so that's booked in for Friday. I'm hoping she can give me a bit more info.

Hi did you get your scan?

MumOfDiamonds · 03/09/2018 16:29

Hi gttia

Yes I had my scan. The consultant couldn't find any fluid mass, which was great news. She said my ovaries look healthy but my uterus is a lot thicker then it should be. She said I am early stages of adenomyosis. I mentioned to her that I'd never heard of until a few days before. She told me that at this stage I should try the coil and see how it works for me. I have just started my bleed and it is terrible. I'm going to give serious consideration to which contraception to use. I'm due to start university in a few weeks so I would like to be on something that can manage my periods a bit better. I can no longer use the combined pill due to it causing migraines. I've still not received my biopsy results but seen as my smear was last year, I don't think I should be overly concerned. Thanks for asking Smile.
