Hi,
Have posted before but have had to make a new account!

So I'm over a week late for my period. Pregnancy is unlikely but have been testing anyway each time it is completely negative.

Have lower back/abdo ache- like a dull pulling pain.
Some sharp right sided pelvic pain.
Needing a wee very often- sometimes not making It to the loo in time but its only tiny amounts at a time.
Dizziness/feeling weak just exhausted.
headache that has appeared today.
Feel very full when I eat a small amount.#
All these things have been going on a good few weeks but are getting worse.

I had a LEEP done last oct given then all clear. Also had an ovarian cyst 2 years ago which resolved.

I feel I should be seen but I hate it when they make you feel as though you shouldn't be there!!

Anyone else had this- what did it end up being?

TIA

You should go and see your GP sooner rather than later. While it’s unlikely to be anything sinister, this definitely needs to be checked out. All the best op.

TallGiraffe3 · 20/08/2018 13:44

Thanks I thought I should but the doubt always creeps in! Off to give them a call will update!

No appts and according to the receptionist this issue doesn't warrant an urgent phone appt either. think she is just listening to late period :|

Maybe try calling back and stressing the abdo and sharp pelvic pain, really you don't have to give a massive amount of info to the receptionists so keep it brief.

I would be less worried about the period, especially with you only being a week late, and more worried about the other symptoms, in particular the dizziness and weeing.

TallGiraffe3 · 20/08/2018 14:19

That's exactly my thoughts I'm not overly concerned about that I might ring back and hope I get someone else this time!

Gosh not up to receptionist to diagnose that your problem is too trivial even to be able to speak to a GP - persevere OP and hope that it is nothing serious

tomatosoup1 · 20/08/2018 14:30

Sounds similar to the pain I have and I haven't had a period in nearly 5 months
I have just been diagnosed with endometriosis

TallGiraffe3 · 20/08/2018 15:30

GP called and made me feel like I'm over reacting!!

OP posts:
Annalogy · 20/08/2018 15:42

Are you on any form of contraception, OP?

TallGiraffe3 · 20/08/2018 16:23

nope- been waiting 6 months to have the coil refitted after my leep/all clear last year.
They keep cancelling my appt. I asked for the pill or alternative and was told it will take just as long!

LaGattaNera · 20/08/2018 16:43

Gosh OP the receptionist and GP sound awful Flowers

TallGiraffe3 · 20/08/2018 16:48

It made me so upset! she said 'it's a UTI and PMS stop being silly worrying and just drop a urine sample off' she actually laughed a couple of times and I never got to tell her all my symptoms!!

OP posts:
Cocolepew · 20/08/2018 16:51

What the hell? That's shocking.
If you are in pain and getting worse I would go to A&E.

TallGiraffe3 · 20/08/2018 16:52

I'm not sure if it is an A&E kind of pain though!

KitKatCHA · 20/08/2018 16:53

We have an out of hours dept with a GP that opens at 6, accessed via 111. Anything like that you could try?

Annalogy · 20/08/2018 16:54

Really? How ridiculous.

Obviously not a GP receptionist thread, but that's mad.

Sorry I don't have any advice, I hope you feel better soon. Thanks

TallGiraffe3 · 20/08/2018 16:55

I could but not sure they would do anything if I have already spoken to the GP? I might ask when I go to take this sample if I can speak to someone else

OP posts:
princesstiasmum · 20/08/2018 17:04

Ring 111, and get their advice, wont hurt to just ask

TallGiraffe3 · 20/08/2018 18:44

GPs saying it’s an infection so is giving antibiotics and sending a sample to the hospital 🤷🏻‍♀️

Beeby18 · 20/08/2018 18:50

Hi! Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling great.

I've had the same symptoms as you since January, had an ultrasound scan which showed my ovaries are enlarged. Then had a blood test to check for ovarian cancer which thankfully came back clear.

They've diagnosed me with ovarian cysts, despite having a scan last year which showed they'd resolved. Goes to show how quickly our bodies can change!

I'd definitely go to the GP and get checked, but be prepared for it to be quite ongoing! Good luck xx

gottachangethename1 · 20/08/2018 20:07

I’d go to Em Doc at my local A&E dept first thing tomorrow (nights are never a good time to attend unless very unwell). Have resorted to this once or twice due to awful GP receptionist and symptoms were taken seriously by staff at hospital.

CressidaEgg · 21/08/2018 09:03

Once you're feeling better, I hope you'll put in a wriiten complaint about the receptionist. How dare she laugh at you and give a diagnosis?

TallGiraffe3 · 21/08/2018 09:41

Cressida it was actually the doctor that laughed!!
The first receptionist was rude but the others have been really helpful. I've dropped off a second sample this morn to be sent off and picked up my prescription I'm feeling rubbish though :( xx

OP posts:
PilarTernera · 21/08/2018 10:20

A GP who laughs at a patient who is in pain and distressed? That's completely unacceptable. Definitely warrants a complaint, if you feel you can manage it. Or is it an option to change GPs?

In spite of all that, I hope the antibiotics work and you feel better soon.

TallGiraffe3 · 21/08/2018 11:41

I'm going to change anyway as we have moved but hadnt got round to registering elsewhere the GP I usually see is lovely though! x x
