Missing period

Hi all,

I'm 28, I've not had a period for the past 2 months, and I'm quite concerned.

It's been quite a stressful few months in the lead up to my missing period in July.
We've just bought and moved into our first house, we were making sure our last home which we rented was spotless, we were arranging and packing for a family holiday, I was taking driving lessons and preparing for my driving test and obviously doing all the other normal parent-to-a-spirited-toddler stuff.

So yeah, a lot on.

I expected AF to turn up as normal mid July, whilst we were away on holiday, but nothing.
Not even a twinge!

Over the next 3 weeks I took 6 pregnancy tests, and I spoke to a GP over the phone who said not to worry, and it would return when things were more normal.

Now it's mid-August and I have a few twinges, aches and other symptoms, but still, nothing.

I've spoken to my GP since who doesn't seem concerned, but I am as we were hoping to start trying for another baby come the end of the year, and I'd like to know if we're going to run into trouble or not.

Have any of you had any experience with this sort of thing? If so have you found anything has helped get your periods back on track? Do you think I have to wait a certain amount of time before I'm taken seriously?

TIA

If it was me, i'd give it a few weeks and if you still don't come on, go back to the doctors and demand a blood test. Could be that you're pregnant but just keep getting negative tests - obviously very unlikely but still possible.
It could also be because you've been very stressed lately which can also cause your periods to stop

Have you come off birth control in the last few months? My periods were always like clockwork but when I came off the pill (after having been on it for about 12 years) my periods went haywire for about 7 months and were irregular and very painful. Some were incredibly light and some were really heavy. They are back to normal now and haven’t had any further issues. Doctor said it’s normal as coming off birth control can cause a big hormonal imbalance for a while

Thanks for the replies.

Abbieo - I think it'll end up me doing that, the dr seems very relaxed and laughed then I asked about a hormone imbalance saying that she doubts it.
It makes me feel like a nuisance.

Frosty - No I haven't, we use condoms as I find most BC plays havoc with my moods. I wouldn't be having sex with that kind of temper. Grin
I used a MAP in early February, and my period was a bit strange afterwards, but it settled in April and May was fine.

What is your weight like? If underweight or overweight it can sometimes cause a few issues with hormones. Hopefully it’s just a bit of stress and will calm down soon.
My brother in law’S sister got negative pregnancy tests until she was about 5 months pregnant though (it’s probably very rare but can happen).

I'm a little overweight at the moment, but not a considerable amount, and nothing has been majorly different.
I've had less of an appetite, but I'm thinking maybe that's just stress. I've been much heavier in the past and it's not ever changed anything, but then I suppose I was younger.

Strangely, just as when I have my period normally, my weight goes up for a short time around when I would have been due, then back down again.

I think if it doesn't turn up then a blood test would be best as has been said.
5 months?! God! Did they ever say why?
