Leaving endo untreated? Does combi pill help?

Sorry if this is long, I'll try keep it as short as possible. Also, not sure whether this should be in family planning so MNHQ please move it if needs be.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis about 6 years
ago, for the first 2 years I had monthly Zolatex injections and then my GP said I'd done the course and couldn't have anymore.

Next, I was given the Mirena coil and, as with the Zoladex, I was pain free with frequent but light periods. However a few years in and I am on my period about 50% of the time and where they used to be light, they are becoming heavier again and the back and side pain is increasing to the point where the sharp pain is often taking my breath away as it did before.

I am guessing that the hormones have run out of my coil so after plenty of discussions with DP the coil is going to come out and we will be actively trying for a baby. However, I'm worried leaving my endo untreated in this time could harm our chances.

So I toddle off to the GP, for advice more than anything. GP advised the combined pill (although he had to Google whether it helped endo and then still wasn't sure) he said to try it and see how I 'get on’ and take ibuprofen for the pain (ok....Confused)

I still have the coil in at the moment and don't know what to do for the best. If I keep it in = pain and awful periods but endo (possibly) being treated properly, take it out = regulate my periods but is it treating the endo (pain unknown)

Help! Thanks in advance Smile

Some do and some don’t I think. They all react differently with me but most do make my periods shorter and lighter. Less painful. Even the low dose ones. Hope this helps

Thank you Honey, I asked the same in chat as this had got no responses but it seems like there is life after the Mirena Grin
