Prolapse again after hysterectomy and repair :-( TMI

Anyone else had more than one repair?

Had vaginal hysterectomy and anterior repair 2 years ago, but now waiting to find out what damage I've done, lifting more than I knew I was capable of. Feeling such an idiot.

Not sure it's that huge a prolapse, it's not even affecting my ability to wee (yet!) but it's currently enough to ruin my sex life, just when I thought I was ready to go out dating again and look for a new relationship. Beyond gutted.

This is the TMI bit - I'm alarmed and slightly freaked out that it appears to have affected my clitoris. I love my clitoris! But now it just hurts inside and out. I'm so sad.

This happen to anyone else? Feeling like I can't justify surgery just for my non-existant sex life.

Sad

Amen to that! Would be glad to hear how you get on over time if you feel like updating as it’s really helpful having actual people to talk to as well as wading through stats.

I’ve just got my pessary fitting appointment through for the 23rd so will pop back and let folk know if that’s any help if you like?

Have a lovely day saying ‘screw you!’ to gravity and enjoying your correctly-located organs WinkFlowers

Yes, thank you everyone who's posted flowers and here's to all our bits staying where they should!

I'll drink to that! Very glad to have the support of this thread also.

Holy do you mind me asking... after you had your surgery (and before the recent scare), did things feel "back to normal" down there? I hate feeling a bulge (my bladder) and I also hate the feeling that the walls of my vagina are no longer "shut together" most of the time. It feels as though there is a gap. If I walk down the steps into a swimming pool, I can feel the water go inside my vagina, which then makes my bladder feel weird.

Did you have that, and did it resolve with the surgery?

Holycrappamoly · 09/08/2018 21:24

littlecabbage absolutely there were times when it all felt back to normal (no gaps where there shouldn't be!). Although I do have an active physical job and hobby, so I am always hyper-aware iykwim. Whereas others I know (admittedly after just hysterectomy without repair) have all said they got to a point where they don't really think about it at all.

Definitely always felt better for consistent (appropriate!) exercising. There have been several occasions (mentioned upthread) where I've felt I've pushed too hard and had an uncomfortable pressure feeling, but it's passed in a couple of weeks. This was by far the worst yet, but it's good to know that up to that point recently, I've not been overdoing it (it's always been a niggling doubt). It's also reassuring to read of all the running ambitions! Not sure I could manage running, but it's definitely made me hopeful for some other ambitions of mine.

So yes Verbena it would be great to hear everyone's updates as time goes on! Happy to share experiences - @ me with anything specific Smile

Thank you, that is encouraging. I'm not sure I would now ever risk the London Marathon but don't want a life without decent exercise!

Verbena87 · 09/08/2018 22:27

I’m not a road runner anyway but there’s a marathon in the welsh mountains that I’ve done half of and it feels like unfinished business. We’ll see. I swing between thinking I ought to be very careful, and thinking my body does whatever the hell it fancies with no regard for me, so maybe I’ll return the favour and do what I love regardless. I’m hoping at some point to find a healthy balance!

Holycrappamoly · 09/08/2018 22:55

Aw I really hope you both get there. And Verbena you have a specialist nurse on board so it can't be that much of a pipe dream!

Baby steps though, all the way. I'm definitely erring more towards never say never for these things!

See this AIBU thread I’ve just posted (put it there for traffic)

Morning all!

If anyone’s still about, do you find your symptoms are worse if you’re tired? The last few days I’ve had a really heavy/draggy/bulgy cystocele and I’ve not done anything to exacerbate it. The only thing it’s coincided with is me being really worn out and waking up feeling like I’m not properly rested. Is this even slightly a thing? Any ideas?

littlecabbage · 15/08/2018 10:10

Morning! Hmmm, not sure. Can't say I've noticed a connection in the past, but sounds plausible.

Mine does seem a little worse recently, but presume due to recent birth (although I'm always tired!).

Just had post natal check this morning with GP, and being referred to women's physio, yay!

Verbena87 · 15/08/2018 11:41

Oh fab you got your referral!

I did do some dancing at a wedding on Saturday, but had 2 days of being absolutely fine afterwards and usually if I push it, I know straight away, it doesn’t sneak up over several days, so I don’t think it’s that.

Blooming baggy fanny! Really getting me down today.
