Post birth problems

Gave birth 15 weeks ago and have had a couple of problems.

Firstly, My three periods since birth have been HORRIBLE. The heaviest of my life, my mood has completely gone. I got into a stupid argument with my husband, couldn't stop crying, and ended up hysterical - a huge overreaction. Also got my first cold sore for ages.

I accept some of this may be hormones not completely levelled out but I've read that heavy periods after birth may be a sign of a bigger problem.

I also had an episiotomy during the birth and my stitches burst. Was told it would heal up fine without being restitched but it hasn't. It is mangled.

Realistically, is there anything I can do that's not going to be really invasive? I know I'm proably just going to have to learn to live with it, but it sucks.

Any advice appreciated.

I think first few periods after birth tend to be all over place and not always a representation of what is to come. But they can get heavier or lighter unfortunately.

If your unhappy with how your episiotony has healed, you can go to your GP and request a cut and restitch.

The NHS doesn’t give a crap about birth injuries. As long as you’re alive and reasonably functional that’s all they care about. As long as the child is healthy, they aren’t bothered if you’re mangled and in my experience will refuse to refer you to fix any resulting issues.

Thanks, for replying. I don't think I care enough about it to get cut again. I haven't noticed 'issues' but it just feels mangled.

I suppose I'm just going to have to get over it :/

Periods after birth - both times mine were absent for over a year (breastfeeding) but when they returned were horribly heavy and unpleasant. It took about a year to properly settle (some months they’d seem more normal then I’d be floored by heavy bleeding the next month) but they did eventually go back to pre both normal

Stitches - I had a labial tear where the stitches came out so it’s not healed properly. It doesn’t bother me but I’m certain your doc can refer you to have it looked at and discuss some options

Re the scar if you've no issues it might be OK, mine felt rotten and I was convinced I had a slight prolapse but both my doctor and physio said it was one of the best wounds they'd seen. I just needed time, it felt better and I got used to the new way everything felt by about 5 months post birth.
