OB/GYN literature omits the nerves and vasculature of the clitoris

This gap in education is a patient safety issue and gender inequality issue. I have been trying to email textbook authors, residency program directors, and professional organizations with minimal luck. I’d appreciate any advice or support people could offer. If I could just get this anatomy added to OB/GYN board exams, that would force a change nation-wide. But this would require women demanding it be considered important. Knowledge of this anatomy is important for understanding function and dysfunction and for safe surgery.

I personally had the dorsal nerves of my clitoris cut in a clitoral hood reduction performed without my consent during a labiaplasty. My labia minora were completely removed and the the glans and some of the body were rendered insensate.

I don't know anything about labiaplasty but I'm sorry it has had this unwanted effect for you. I've had various forms of surgery for other conditions and my observation is that there are almost always unwanted and lasting effects on surrounding nerves and tissues.
