Periods after having a baby

Hi ladies,

I just wanted to ask if this is 'normal' and if others have experienced it.

I had a baby almost 5 months ago now, I had my first period the 2nd June and started my second yesterday. My post partum bleeding was quite minimal I assume this was due to emergency c-section. I had a few clots the first week but never had more than a small inch or so worth of blood on pads. My first pp period was much heavier than before having a baby, but this one is ridiculous! Prior to having a baby I'd have a 3-4 day period and would use super for the first day and then regular and light on my last day. I used super when at work and could go around 4 hours before changing and this would only be the first day.

This period however I am having to use a super tampon and a pad to avoid leaking. I am going to the loo to change every 1.5-2 hrs and have always leaked onto the pad. During the night I used a super tampon and nighttime pads I had left over from pp and both were full and had to change twice during the night.

I feel awful; headachy, dizzy and nauseous. I feel ridiculous but am struggling with looking after my son as feel so poorly, Dh couldn't take the day off work but has said will try and come home early and to ask my Mum to take lo out today. I have really bad cramps but that is normal for me I've always had to use co-codamol for period pain.

I think it's quite normal to have very different periods after pregnancy? Has anyone else had this? I think they class 'too heavy' as changing double protection hourly and it's not quite that bad.
