Dr refused to give me a referral

Hi I am new to mumsnet.

Let me start by saying I live in regional Australia in a town with one stop light and no female bulk billing GP. 18 months ago I had quite a traumatic birth, larger than usual episiotomy.. My mum is a nurse and it even turned her green with nausea.

So it all healed somewhat OK but I have had incontinence
problems and a lot of pain. And the first time I have been intimate since birth the guy said 'it did not look right down there'. While I appreciate his honesty I won't be seeing him again

So I went to get a referral from the doctor to see the outreach gyno and he flat out refused to give me a referral. He said that is not enough reason to see a gyno.. They won't ring me or book me in.

Prior to birth I had never had to see a gyno so my question is, is my problem not a big enough one to see a gyno?

Sounds a misogynist arse. Sorry, not helpful.

I'd see someone else or speak to your health visitor and possibly contact the hospital directly

Hi... I not an Australian gp just a UK one.
But do understand the Australian system.
Arw you incontinent of urine or faeces?
If the former is it all the time or just when you laugh /run/etc?
That's called stress incontinence and is sadly quite common post delivery. You need to crack on with pelvic floor exercises and ask for a physio referral or if you can afford it pay for one.
If you arw incontinent of faeces then something is definitely wrong and you need to see gynae.
If you just feel that the fleshy bits down there arw not the same as they were.. Well sorry but that's something that can happen after child birth and an episiotomy.
Can you go to the nearest down with a different doctor and see them? Not sure how far tgat will be for you

It is fecal incontinence unfortunately. If I need to go and I don't go within five minutes it can cause quite an embarrassing problem. In had a look down there and I guess I have to come to terms that it will never look the same again. Just makes me feel undesirable to be honest.

It sounds like your Dr is a dick Flowers
What was his recommendation for treating the incontinence if he didn’tthink It worthy of a referral?
