my dd and her friends LOVE them. all i hear is 'team jacob' 'team edward'! i've personally never read them but i'm not much of a reader. but i do know mums who do and they think they're excellent.

I'd say buy it! you never know, you might become hooked!

HighFibreDiet · 04/07/2010 09:35

OnEdge, there are loads of mumsnetters who are into Twilight, not to mention usernames inspired by the series. Just take a look at the Twi-sluts anonymous threads.

I have to say I have decided to join them, and am avoiding all books, movies and associated stuff because
(a) I am put off that the books are written for adolescents;
(b) I am worried that if I get into it I will become obsessed ;)

Once you start, you just can't stop.

rosieposey · 04/07/2010 11:45

I started to read them when i was pg with DS a couple of years ago, i was pretty much hooked too. The writing isnt that great but the story is lovely Went for a preview showing of Eclipse yesterday and cant wait for the other two part movies of the last book to come out now!

MitchyInge · 04/07/2010 11:47

Argh no

I read pretty much everything my children read, so worked through these a few years ago as and when each one came out. I can't stand passive Bella, and the constant references to domestic violence justified by 'he can't help it because he is a werewolf or a vampire', and her boyfriend telling her what to do and who to talk to etc., and later the family values and pro life stuff

ugh

OnEdge - I have just read the first 3 in the last week. I'm completely captivated and it isnt my usual type of book. It did gtake me back to being a teen with all the angst that goes with it.

Like Dawson's Creek with Vampires and Werewolves

Charlieknows · 08/07/2010 22:50

Yeah, they're EXACTLY like Dawson's Creek with vampires and warewolves in them.

I read them a year or so ago, the stories are good enough to keep reading them but they're nothing special there are a lot better stories out there involving all the storylines that this saga have.

krazyk · 09/07/2010 21:43

I enjoyed them, but instead of buying, visit your local library. It is free if you don't like the book you have wasted your money.

thesunshinesbrightly · 18/07/2010 22:49

Never fancied the movies before but my son wanted to watch it and oh my god i am addicted and Edward it gorgeous!

Now i need to buy the books.

desanimaux · 18/07/2010 22:54

Anyone read the "Twighlight" books and been able to spell the title correctly?

OgreRebel · 18/07/2010 22:58

They are poorly written, trite, predictable nonsense. I made it through 1 and a half books before slipping into a boredom coma.

Skip the books. Read the fanfic instead. Better class of writer. Often better pairings too.

scottishmummy · 18/07/2010 23:00

heard they are chuff.so no,and that pasty faced actor looks like a munter.so no

katwhoneedshelp · 22/07/2010 21:05
