Oh, happy day, I've waited eight years since the last one!

It's called The Land of Painted Caves, and will be released on 29th march next year, so still a bit of a wait, and I think it's the last one... I know they aren't very literary, but I grew up with these and I love them

Oh, I loved those books. I remember reading the first three back in the (late!) 80's. I always intended to call my DD Alya, but DH said everyone would assume we could't spell Isla.

I hope this one is as good.

KickArseQueen · 01/06/2010 18:02

Excellent! and by the time it comes out I might actually have time to read it!!!!

Horton · 01/06/2010 18:38

Oh, that is so exciting. Thanks for the tip. Can't wait to find out how it all ends.

maamalady · 01/06/2010 19:47

It will have endless perfect sex, just like the others. I will still read it, though!

shoshe · 01/06/2010 19:55

Ohh Goodie, I have been rereading all the others recently.

eatyourveg · 01/06/2010 20:05

Fab news. I hope she goes back to find her son she left with the clan

KickArseQueen · 01/06/2010 21:17

It amazes me that to get exquisite perfect sex the author had to go that far back in time.........

jillhastwoponies · 04/06/2010 08:35

Oh God, the sex. I usually skip most of that, there's only so many times you can read that "she cried out as he entered her deep well" or "his manhood swelled as he found her centre of pleasure".

I look forward to Ayla inventing agriculture, the wheel, and, probably the Nintendo Wii in this one.

oh brilliant!!!

there is an awful lot of shagging though..tut tut...and rather superfluous descriptions of jondalar's member, iirc...but i love them anyway

jillhastwoponies · 04/06/2010 09:01

lots of stuff here

@ Jillhastwoponies

She does manage to do a lot of inventing between the bouts of perfect shagging, doesn't she?

I wanted to call DD Ayla too.

NeonCupcakes · 04/06/2010 12:05

I loved these too when I was younger, Jill.
Had practically forgotten about them.

I'll tell you how it will end. Ayla will find the child she left with the clan, add 'Perfect Mother' to her list of attributes, unite the Clan and the humans thereby achieving world peace and getting awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Oh and pioneer modern surgical techniques in the Ayla Memorial Hospital.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 04/06/2010 12:06

I love these books am looking forward to it.

wukter · 04/06/2010 21:37

Coincidence. I picked up the 4th one today, from the charity shop (50c), never having heard of them before.
Then, I click in Adult Fiction to see were
there any threads about them and I see this!

I have already encountered The Pleasures.

TrillianAstra · 04/06/2010 22:09

Has she already had the baby who is the product of all this amazing shagging? Does it have blonde hair and a giant willy?

wukter · 04/06/2010 22:41

No - she has a baby alright from when she lived with the Flatheads, but she left them now with Jondalar, but in the 4th one she is still taking her morning tea for the moon times. Jondalar apparently is known as master of 2 crafts, one is making spears (or summat like that) the other is seeking out throbbing nodules.

jillhastwoponies · 05/06/2010 11:10

She has her baby girl at the end of the fifth book, and calls her 'Jonayla' - geddit?

A bit like those old couples who call their Bungalow 'JanNorm' or 'SheilRon'

At the end of the book, she just wants to be a wife and mother, but the spiritual leader is compelling her to train as a shaman - so he has a real SAHM/WOHM dilemma (well, SACM/WOCM dilemma )

OP posts:
CornishKK · 05/06/2010 20:03

I read them all as a teenager, imagine my disappointment when I dicovered not all men were Jondalar

They are shite but I will have to read it just to see Ayla juggle cavework whilst establishing a new business and breastfeeding an orphan wolf cub.

Ninive · 05/06/2010 22:35

I think you've probably summed up the next book perfectly, right there. And I will still read it

My history teacher at Uni told us about how it was to teach history in school when these books were popular. Suddenly all the girls wanted to know about stone age people, and if the teacher said something was so-and-so, they would pipe up "no! it wasn't like that! this book here says..."

Babieseverywhere · 24/03/2011 14:24

Bumping thread as next tuesday this book is out.

I started reading these books at 13 years old and I am determined to finish this series. I am getting a kindle version delivered so can stay reading straight away :)

HattiFattner · 24/03/2011 14:31

Im in the process of re-reading them. I had suppressed the memory forgotten the endless repetative (but throbingly good) sex scenes - its a wonder my mother let me read them at all.

Reading them as an adult is interesting as they are nowhere near as good as I remembered.

verysomething · 24/03/2011 22:29

Jonayla

pronounce 'd'ja nail er?' (did you nail her?) ...helps to say it in an Australian accent. fnar fnar! [grin

still behaving like I'm twelve obv. Blush

Babieseverywhere · 25/03/2011 10:09

Groan ;)

Yes, they are pretty hit and miss and all the travelling with description of the flora and rampant (repetitive) sex scenes. If I read one more time how she if always up for sex, however how tired or cold they are, I might have to scream.

But I like them enough to finish reading the series, then they'll properly go dusty on my shelf :)
