and I now know why Rowan left school and what Nicola said to her on the train.

I know what happened to Cousin Jon.

I am about to find out what happened to Lawrie and Ellen Terry.

I have waited a long time for this moment and I am enjoying every minute.

Thank you CoupleOfKooks

Kooks I wouldn't at all expect you to lend precious AF books to complete strangers - mine are in my chained library ...

SingingBear - I love RAH. Although I always feel sad that Nicola doesn't ring Esther.
If she had written a sequel would have loved to have read the moment when thye met up again.

NoahAndTheWhale · 28/05/2010 18:51

I also wonder what would have happened with Nicola and Esther. I feel they would probably have just drifted apart with no defining moment really.

HumphreyCobbler · 28/05/2010 19:24

It has been years since I read RAH - remind me what the problem is with Esther?

Ooh another AF thread.
I have got my ingers in my ears about what happens in RAH as I haven't read it yet.....

But for anyone else looking for AF books, the newly-revamped GGBP website has a etailed list of dealers who have copies of the GGBP reprints here

NoahAndTheWhale · 28/05/2010 20:22

Problem happens in Attic Term - Nicola is going to do a solo and Esther offers to do it for her but in thecend can't go through with it. It doesn't really bother Nicola that much but Esther bolts home on a earlier train. And takes Daks with her (Nicola was meant to have him for the holidays as usual). She considers phoning Esther up in RAH but discusses with Rowan and decides not to.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 28/05/2010 20:39

I always feel for Esther - I just imagine her suffering huge agonies all holiday.
As NoahAndTheWhale says, after the event, Nicola isn't too bothered. She just accepts it as being an 'Esther' type thing to do.
I think for Esther it is a huge thing because she idolises Nicola.

Thanks. I remember the paralysing moment when Miranda plays the note three times.

I have read Run away Home now, I bought it myself for my birthday. OOh I enjoyed it. It continually amazes me how AF can seamlessly start a new book even though there is a big gap in time between her writing one and finishing another.

I liked Giles in RAH but couldn't quite work out how old he was meant to be. About 20?

And I LOL'd at Lawrie as the monkey.

I really love these books, they would definitely be my Desert Island books (in a collected volume of course).

Now I am seriously on a hunt for Marlows and the Traitor to complete my set. But I am not too bothered, the later ones are deffo my favourite.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 30/05/2010 22:36

I think he is about 22 in RAH. Karen must be 20 and she is next in age to him.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 30/05/2010 22:40

There is an interesting thread here which discusses Marlowe ages.

NoahAndTheWhale · 31/05/2010 16:00

In one of the books about AF that GGBP have published there are suggestions of how old everyone is in different books. Will try and find it some time.
