Inspired by Bran...There is little hope of anyone knowing the answer, but when I was little I inherited some little oblong books about a family of mice (clothes wearing family), the book was about 10cm wide by 5cm high and the covers were one brown, one blue, one yellow etc and the mice were quite pointy...I suspect they were from the fifties and drawn in typical fifties reading book style just a few words to a page...

And i also came across this website which chooses a book for you based on your inputWhichbook.net

No much more ancient than that, and not many words (or pages for that matter) Like a pre school reader

I would love to be able to repay my debt to Mumsnet by telling you what the books were, but sadly I don't know.

I do love that website though, I think I'll be having fun with it.

mandyc66 · 06/08/2005 16:49

did they live in a biscuit tin? doing a search!!!

lemonice · 06/08/2005 17:22

Just come back from a fruitless shopping trip. I hate shopping.

But mandy thanks for looking, I don't think they lived in a biscuit tin but not impossible they were just like a sentence on each page...they didn't do anything much, I don't think...I just remember really liking them...

No it's not that one. I think it's probably one for grandmas to answer...I'm wondering if the mother mouse was called martha...but I might be wrong!!!

jane313 · 06/08/2005 18:07

jane313 · 06/08/2005 18:08

oops that didn't work

lemonice · 06/08/2005 18:44

I had a look but they are too recent, I had an alternative thought that the mouse might be called belinda for some reason and came across a reference to a book which is oblong (so that sounds OK)and about Belinda Brown mouse and family and only has an illustrator and no author and the author is called E. Daram, but the book wasn't illustrated so I don't know if its the right one!!!!

They're too new, Janh

Nooo, they look for books for people, li! Obviously easier with author/title but it says "if you prefer you can specify a narrowly focussed specialist subject area and Glyn's Booksearch will trawl the active secondhand booktrade throughout the world."

lemonice · 06/08/2005 19:16

Thanks. I might console myself by bidding for Tiptoes the Miscievous Kitten on ebay (I'm such a scrooge I nearly got that before but I might go for it this time!)

goes off to look for Milly Molly Mandy and Teddy Robinson books...The Cherries
